The Digestive Process
- Food is swallowed and passes through the esophagus into the stomach.
- In the stomach, food is mixed with strong chemicals and churned until it is soft and mostly liquid.
- The churned food is then squeezed into the small intestine.
Vomiting
- Vomiting occurs when the stomach sends an unpleasant message, "Something is very wrong down here!" and reverses the direction of the food, causing it to come out of the mouth.
