Mitosis

A type of cell division that produces two identical daughter cells, each with the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell. This is how most cells in the body reproduce.

Meiosis

A type of cell division that produces four daughter cells, each with half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell. It is used for producing gametes (sex cells).

Diploid cell
