Training Major of EMS Operations

  • Reports to the Deputy Chief and is responsible for emergency medical training, medical supplies, billing, reports, and the critique of personnel and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and initiates emergency medical and related training for the entire fire department in conjunction with the Deputy Fire Chief and Assistant Chief/Training.
  • Manages medical supplies and equipment, including ordering and inventory management.
  • Works with the Medical Director to develop, maintain, and revise protocols for medical procedures for the Broken Arrow Fire Department.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to provide effective leadership and to plan, assign, and direct the work of subordinates.
  • Ability to plan, initiate, and carry out long-term programs in fire administration, training, and emergency medical services.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to groups and individuals.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of continuous service as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Broken Arrow Fire Department or equivalent training/experience as determined by the Fire Chief.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver's license and have a driving record sufficient to meet and maintain a status of insurability with the City's insurance carrier.
  • Must be State and National Registered Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (NREMTP).
  • Must obtain and maintain State and National certification.
  • Must obtain and maintain Fire Service Training Instructor Level I and II, Fire Service Training EMS Instructor, and American Heart Association CPR Instructor certifications.
