British Empire: colonized many regions worldwide, imposing governance, exploiting resources, and labor, and leaving lasting marks on colonized regions.
The Scramble for Africa: refers to the rapid colonization and partitioning of Africa by European powers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Decolonization: the process by which colonies gained independence from colonial rule.
Neocolonialism: refers to the lasting impact of colonialism on recently liberated countries, affecting economic, political, or cultural influence.

Cold War: a period of geopolitical tensions between the Soviet Union and its allies (Eastern Bloc) and the USA and its allies (Western Bloc) following World War II.
First World: referred to capitalist, democratic countries on the US side, such as Western Europe and Japan.
Second World: referred to communist states on the Soviet Union's side, such as Eastern Europe and China.
Third World: referred to neutral countries not picking sides.

Global Capitalism: an economic system characterized by private ownership, free market competition, and profit maximization on a global scale.

Prophetic Abrahamic Religions: includes Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which trace their origins back to the biblical figure Abraham.
Christendom: historically referred to the worldwide community of Christians and the territories under Christian rule.
Modern Western Civilization: characterized by secularism, liberalism, progressivism, and technological advancement.
Islam: a religion that originated in the Middle East, with Muhammad as the central figure, and the Koran as the holy book.

EU: a political and economic union of European countries aiming to promote economic and political cooperation.
UEFA: the governing body for football in Europe.
Spanish Empire: connected to colonialism, conquering and controlling large parts of the Americas, exploiting resources and labor, and leaving a lasting impact.
Orientalism: a concept that refers to the Western study, depiction, and perception of the "Orient" as exotic, primitive, and inferior.
Dar al-Islam: refers to the "abode of Islam," regions where Islam is the dominant religion and where Islamic law prevails.

Global North-South Divide: refers to the economic and developmental disparity between the affluent, industrialized countries of the "Global North" and the less developed countries of the "Global South".
MDCs: More Developed Countries, referring to affluent, industrialized countries with high levels of economic development, advanced technology, and strong infrastructure.
LDCs: Less Developed Countries, referring to countries with low levels of economic development, often characterized by poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and limited access to education and healthcare.
Development: the process of improving the economic, social, and political well-being of a society, often measured by indicators such as economic growth, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
