Adverse Effects

Pharmacokinetics
- When taken orally, Boniva exhibits rapid onset with a peak effect occurring between 0.5 to 2 hours.
- Intravenous (IV) administration also results in rapid onset; however, the peak effect is unknown.
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with uncorrected hypocalcemia.
- Caution is necessary for those who cannot remain upright for at least 60 minutes.
- Use with caution in individuals with known upper gastrointestinal abnormalities and during pregnancy or lactation.
