Performance Evaluation Checklist - Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

  • Assessment Criteria:

    • Tap and shout "Are you alright?"
    • Check for pulse (carotid for adults/children, brachial for infants) and breathing (scanning chest for movement 5-10 seconds).
    • Call for help and activate emergency response system, including AED.
  • Performance (CAB Sequence):

    • Circulation (If no pulse within 10 seconds, start CPR (30:2)):
      • Compression rate: 120 beats per minute
      • Compression depth:
        • Adults/Children: 2 inches
        • Infants: 1.5 inches
      • Allow complete recoil between compressions
      • Switch providers every 2 minutes
      • Limit interruptions to <10 seconds
    • Airway:
      • Head Tilt-Chin Lift Maneuver
    • Breathing:
      • Chest rise observation with mask
      • Bag mask (5-6 seconds)
      • Advance airway support (1 breath every 6-8 seconds).
      • If pulse present, rescue breathing every 5-6 seconds (10-12 breaths per minute).
  • Defibrillation:

    • Check for shockable rhythm with AED.
    • Deliver shocks as indicated.
