- The purpose of this guideline is to establish a standardized process for transferring equipment and operational use between frontline and reserve apparatus.
Objective:
- To ensure operational continuity of the St. John's Fire District (STJFD).
Policy:
- Apparatus transfers are necessary for operational continuity.
- Decision to transfer apparatus is the responsibility of an on-duty Battalion Chief.
- Battalion Chief coordinates the apparatus transfer.
Apparatus Transfer Process:
- Conduct an apparatus check-off prior to placing the apparatus into service.
- Inventory process is conducted using Vector Solutions Check-It software.
- Inventory categories include:
- Medical
- Cab
- SCBA
- Equipment
- Only equipment and items listed in the categories are transferred.
- Remaining portions of the apparatus check-off are completed within Vector Solutions Check-It.
Equipment and Items:
- Absent or missing equipment/items that inhibit operational readiness are noted and communicated to the Battalion Chief in writing and verbally.
Reserve Apparatus:
- Reserve apparatus are kept in a ready state.
- When returning an apparatus from frontline to reserve status:
- Transferring crew ensures the apparatus is fueled and washed.
