Study Notes
Fire Test Push Button
- When an ENG Fire pb is released, the squib lights are illuminated.
- The Fire test pb verifies the detection system loop circuit integrity and the squib circuits of the extinguishing system.
Fire Protection System
- The engine fire detectors are located on the fan, turbine, pylon, and core.
- The agent pushbutton is active when the corresponding "DISCH" light is on.
- The Engine and APU fire protection system includes 2 fire agent bottles for each engine and 1 fire agent bottle for the APU.
Engine Fire
- When the Engine Fire pb is released, the fuel crossfeed valve, LP fuel, and hydraulic fire valves are closed.
- The extinguishing system is controlled by the FDU.
- The systems isolated when Engine Fire pb is released are fuel, electricity, air, and hydraulic.
APU Fire
- When APU Fire pb is released, the APU generator is de-energized.
- The APU fire detection system comprises two fire detection loops.
- The systems isolated when APU Fire pb is released are fuel, air, and electricity.
- APU fire on ground is normally extinguished from the APU fire panel.
Flight Control
- Pitch direct law is a direct side stick to elevator relationship with AUTOTRIM operation.
- The THS is not available after loss of FAC 1 and 2.
- The PFD displays in amber the message "USE MAN PITCH TRIM" in Direct Law.
Lift Dumping
- Lift dumping is done using spoilers 1 to 4.
Rudder Pedal Movement
- Rudder pedal movement is caused by yaw damping signals.
Failure Scenarios
- If ELAC 1 and 2 have failed, pitch control is provided by the FAC's.
- If FAC 1 and 2 have failed, the rudder can always be controlled from the pedals.
- If SEC 1 or 2 have failed, the elevator and pitch trim are controlled by the other SEC.
