Abdominal Quadrants
- Right upper quadrant: Contains the liver, right kidney, gallbladder, and parts of the pancreas and intestines.
- Left upper quadrant: Houses the stomach, spleen, left kidney, and parts of the pancreas and intestines.
- Left lower quadrant: Includes parts of the intestines, left ureter, and in women, left ovary and fallopian tube.
- Right lower quadrant: Contains the appendix, right ureter, parts of the intestines, and in women, the right ovary and fallopian tube.
Abdominal Regions
- Right hypochondriac region: Located below the ribs, it contains the liver and gallbladder.
- Epigastric region: Situated above the stomach, includes the liver, stomach, and parts of the pancreas.
- Left hypochondriac region: Found under the left ribs, encompassing the spleen and parts of the stomach.
- Right lumbar region: Located in the middle right of the abdomen, containing parts of the liver and intestines.
- Umbilical region: Central region of abdomen, comprehensively involves parts of the small intestine and transverse colon.
- Left lumbar region: Positioned in the middle left of the abdomen, encompasses parts of the intestines.
- Right iliac region: Lower right area of the abdomen, home to the appendix and cecum.
