**Social science test practise** What is social science? Social science investigates and addresses social, politil and economic events. What is a social norm? Behavioral rule (way to act in society) **Page 27-33** When we are young, we constantly question our identity because we are trying to find place in society. What is meant by socialisation? Socialisation is becoming part of society (learning important values, norms and manners) What is the difference between primary and secondary socialisation? Primary socialisation takes place in the immediate surrounding, around people that we have close tides to (for example parents, siblings and close friends) --\> this is where we are transforming from biological creature to the social one (learning important norms and values) Secondary socialisation is usually outside of home (it can be either day care, hobbies or school) --\> adoption of norms and values continues What is meant by dual socialisation? It consists of primary and secondary socialisation We learn to adapt to different social arenas and act properly to fit in (we are gonna act differently at home and with friends) **Nuclear family** Strong unit with clear norms and values --\> these days, we don't put such an emphasis on this anymore (gender roles are different these days) **Multigenerational family** Grandparents, parents and siblings --\> nowadays, i tis not very common for generations to live together under one roof **Lars Dencik** argues that child is a subject to dual socialisation nowdays -- children learn early in life different social norms in primary and secondary education (this is happening because women work more than they used to and therefore children are put into daycare earlier) - Lars thinks that this has a positive impact --\> it helps them to make independent choices and learn how to be flexible - Critisism: child is moved away from a secure home too early in life **Socialisation arenas** Socially defined space within which certain normas and values prevail **Multi-socialisation model** There i also a model where we can observe that child is affected by many factors (along the basic primary socialisation and secondary as other chilren or daycare, there are also computer games, films, televison... **Four different family types** Social aquarium (modern and week) The family spends time together but they do something totally different (mom works on her computer, child watches tiktok and dad read the newpaper Revolving door family (modern and week) Emphasis on individual freedom and activities Patriarchal family (traditional and strong) Very traditional family with conservative norms and values, usually strong bond Team family (modern and strong) Democratic, dialogue between people is equal, agreenments...(kind of the idylic family) **Page 35-38** Person's identity is social and individual project I-identity It is something ours, kind of our inner core Even though we act different in various situations, we still know who we are It is created by genetics/heretage + experiences Personal identity It is a concious choice of our appearance to the others (it might change throughout the life) Social identity We change our social identity depending on the environment It i show we think that the environment perceives us and depending on that we act in a certain way IT IS OUR IMAGE Collective identity (what am I and who do I belong to) It is combination of personal and social identity It is usually created by surrounding we are in -- if we grow up in Czech republic, we will act in a certain way, that could be considered our collective identity Our behaviour is easily influnced by the need to gain social recongnition in an environment with certain demands and expectations. There i salso difference between I and ME I -- it is the spontaneus and ,,unsocialized'' us ME -- living up to the expectations and already influenced by society **Page 40-44**
