The foreign policy of Pakistan sets out in the way it Pakistan interacts with foreign nations and to determine its standard of interactions for its organizations, Foreign Policy corporations and individual citizens. The father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam defined Foreign Policy towards PAKISTAN' other countries of the world in 1948, as follows: S FOREIGN "Our Foreign Policy is one of friendliness and good-will towards all the POLICY IN nations of the world. We do not cherish aggressive designs against any LIGHT OF country or nation. We believe in the policy of honesty and fair play in QUAID-E- national and international dealings and are prepared to make our outmost AZAM'S contribution to the promotion of peace and prosperity among the nations of the world. Pakistan will never be found lacking in extending its WORDS material and moral support to the oppressed and suppressed of the United Nations Charter." Objectives of Pakistan's foreign policies Basic goals of Pakistan's foreign policy Maintenanc Safeguarding Pakistan’s internal security is the first foreign e of territorial policy objective. A pursuing a policy of non-interference in integrity other countries’ affairs is also a primary goal. The Primary Interest of Pakistan is self-presentation, Security and wellbeing of its citizens. It also includes promotion of Pakistan as a dynamic, progressive, moderate, and democratic Islamic country. National The necessary components of Pakistan's national Interests interests include Physical identity, Political identity and Cultural identity. Variable components include Prosperity, Peace, Ideology, Justice, Prestige, Aggrandizement and Power. Economic development means increase in national income or increase in Per-Capita Income Economic Economic development is the process that not only effect economic Developm relations but also social, political and cultural relations of the ent Society. Economic development is an attack on the chief evils of the world today i.e. disease, illiteracy, unemployment and inequality". However, it is very difficult to deviate from the previous foreign commitments made by Troika It comprises the specialists and experts of foreign policy and the bureaucrats of high level. Ministry of They prepare foreign policy, keeping in view the Foreign basic objectives and principles of the policy. Affairs They formulate the policy, plans and programs regarding the priorities of foreign policy, and fully cooperate with Troika for its preparation. Pakistan’s intelligence agencies also play very effective role in the Intelligenc formulation of foreign policy by providing full information about e the objectives of other countries foreign policies. Keeping in view Agencies these information’s, Pakistan formulates its foreign policy. The political parties include the priorities of foreign policy Political in their manifestoes, and after their success in the election, they force the Parties and Pressure Gr government to change the priorities of foreign policy according oups to the changing scenario in the light of their view points. Likewise, the pressure groups can also influence the foreign policy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs usually prepares the foreign policy according to the directions of executive and puts it before the Parliament Parliament for approval. After discussion and debate the parliament gives approval to it or suggests some change in it. The objectives of Pakistan's Foreign Policy are rooted in the country's Islamic ideology, its rich cultural heritage and historical experience. As an Islamic and non-aligned country, Pakistan supports Islamic causes Conclusion and achieve mentioned above goals which hold out the promise of a just and equitable world order in which nations can live in peace and security. Pakistan’s security is seriously threatened in recent times Earlier threats were from India, Russia’s military adventure and then Afghan civil war Challenges Presently, threat from India as well as internal and external extremist Suffered huge economic losses, more than $80 to Pakista billion losses since 2001 and more than 50000 lives n Atmosphere of fear and unrest in people and decline in foreign investment due to war against terrorism continue Safeguarding Sovereignty US hot pursuit of Al-Qaeda and Taliban remnants continues drone attacks on different villages of Bajour agency and Waziristan Attack on Salala check post, Abbottabad raid, cross firing across western border The effects of these attacks are: Challenges the causalities and death toll of innocent civilians, to Pakista women and children n There is a strong public reaction against these drone attack Further resulted in suicide attacks on Pakistan law enforcing agencies, airports, police station and civilian places Violation of Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty and dignity How to secure its western border? 2. How to avoid a conflict with the US and its allies? 3. How to preserve the sanctity of its sovereignty while ensuring the flow of foreign aid/loans? 4. This is the biggest challenge of the time Baluchistan issue: After Akbar Bugti’s assassination, situation worsened, attacks on national installations, armed forces and civilians External interference in Baluchistan is also found Small nationalist groups in Baluchistan are also threats to national integration and federation. Baluchistan's strategic importance and China investment in Gawadar Port is also not liked by many states Challenges to Pakista . Kashmir Policy n Pakistan is facing a big internal challenge on its Kashmir policy The plight of Kashmiris have not changed so far as result of giving trade concessions to India, putting Kashmir issue in the back drop and declining support for Kashmir cause India’s continual violation of cease fire and exchange of fire across working boundary India’s propaganda against Pakistan for supporting terrorists groups in Indian Held Kashmir Decrease in foreign investment due to law and order situation and Energy crises Unwillingness of foreign sport teams and players to Challenges come to Pakistan for playing and tourists due to security situation to Pakista n A clear foreign policy is still lacking Need to quickly address these challenges Lack of concrete and clear foreign policy and national stand Foreign Policy Needs to convince the international world to help in Some stopping drone attacks which are against international law Recommendation Needs to involve China, European Union, Muslim s countries, OIC, western media etc. to stop drone attacks through an impressive diplomatic initiatives Invite western media to visit places where drone attacks are made to observe the actual casualties of innocent people.
