**[Flu Injection Prescriptions]** - Efficient data entry by easily selecting which vaccine is being administered and auto-populating prescription information. - Auto-processes flu injection prescriptions, in provinces where applicable, entering the appropriate Third-Party information as required. - Automatically prints an Immunization Record. - Electronically obtain consent through **Patient Centre**, either on a workstation or on an iPad. **SLIDE 1 -** There are 4 steps for documenting and processing a flu injection: 1. Gather patient consent. 1. Complete the **Pharmacy Use** section on the consent form. 1. Submit the **Flu Injection** claim. 1. *Optional:* Notify the prescriber of the flu injection administration. **Gathering Patient Consent Using the Flu Injection Module** Consent for a flu injection can be completed on a workstation or an iPad, and can be gathered for the following: - An existing patient - A new patient - Copying an existing patient from the same family When completed, the flu injection consent form is automatically attached to the prescription and can be viewed at a later time from the **Patient** **Profile** tab. **If a flu injection prescription is not completed within 48 hours of gathering consent, the patient consent will be deleted. If you need to process a flu injection prescription after 48 hours, you must gather patient consent again.** For a quick demo on gathering flu consent using the **Flu Injection** module, watch the video below. **SLIDE 2 -- VIDEO SLIDE 4:49** **SLIDE 3 - Gathering Patient Consent on a Workstation** [**Existing Patient**](https://portal.mckesson.ca/static/PTS/Rx/Content/Prescription%20Information/Flu%20Prescriptions/Consent%20Form/Gathering%20Patient%20Consent%20Using%20the%20Module.htm) To gather consent for an existing patient on a workstation: 1. For more information, see [Flu Injection Summary report](https://www.pharmacytechnologysolutions.ca/pharmaclik-rx-doc/Default.htm#Reports/Report%20Descriptions%20and%20Samples/Accounting%20Reports/Flu%20Injection%20Summary%20Report.htm). - **Gross Profit by Prescription** - provides gross profit information for each prescription. For more information, see [Gross Profit by Prescription Report](https://portal.mckesson.ca/static/PTS/Rx/Content/Reports/Descriptions%20and%20Samples/Accounting%20Reports/Gross%20Profit%20by%20Prescription/Gross%20Profit%20by%20Prescription%20Report.htm). To generate this report for flu injection prescriptions only, select the Flu Injection Custom Class in the Criteria tab prior to previewing the report.- **SLIDE 17** **SLIDE 18 - Troubleshooting Negative Gross Profits for Flu Injection Prescriptions** Negative gross profits for flu injection prescriptions on accounting reports can be caused by incorrect Acquisition Costs in the Drug Folders. If your pharmacy is participating in the provincial flu immunization program and using publicly supplied flu vaccines, the Acquisition Cost must correctly reflect the zero cost you incur for your flu vaccine supply. By default, the Acquisition Cost is null if you do not monitor the Drug and receive inventory through purchase order reconciliation. In these cases, the Supplier Cost is used in place of the Acquisition Cost to calculate gross profit. As the Supplier Cost reflects the listed price of the drug from your supplier, the Supplier Cost will not be zero even if your pharmacy is participating in the flu program. This may cause gross profits to appear negative for flu injection prescriptions. To update the Acquisition Cost in the Drug Folders: 1. Open the flu vaccine Drug Folder. 1. On the **Inventory** tab, enter 0.0001 in the **Acq Cost (ut)** field. The **Acq Cost (pk)** field automatically calculates to the appropriate value. *If the field is locked, select the **Override** checkbox to enable it.* *Do not enter 0. If 0 is entered it will be treated as if there is no value, and the Supplier Cost will be used to calculate gross profit.* 1. Uncheck the **Override** checkbox to lock the **Acq Cost** fields. 1. Select **Save**. 1. Repeat steps 1 - 4 for the remaining flu vaccine Drug Folders.
