WORKING WITH TEXT LESSON III Quarter II OBJECTIVES Use Spelling Determine how to Change font face, and Grammar format text style, size and color Checking Insert symbols and Highlight and align math functions text FORMATTING TEXT One of the basic skills required in creating effective documents using Microsoft Word is the ability to format text. CHANGING FONT FACE, STYLE, SIZE AND COLOR TO CHANGE THE FONT FACE: STEP 1: Highlight the selected text STEP 2: Go to the “FONT” group under the “HOME” tab STEP 3: Click on the arrow beside the Font Face box and select a font TO CHANGE THE FONT STYLE: STEP 1: Highlight the selected text STEP 2: Go to the “FONT” group under the “HOME” tab STEP 3: Select a Font Style from those displayed on the “STYLES” group FONT STYLE FONT STYLE BOLD ITALIC UNDERLINE STRIKETHROUGH SUBSCRIPT SUPERSCRIPY FONT STYLE BOLD Gives emphasis using thicker fonts FONT STYLE ITALIC Gives emphasis using slanted fonts. FONT STYLE UNDERLINE Places line under the text FONT STYLE STRIKETHROUG H Places a line at the middle of the text. FONT STYLE SUBSCRIPT Smaller fonts placed lower than the usual text line; usually used for based numbers in math and science. FONT STYLE SUPERSCRIPT Smaller fonts placed higher than the usual text line; usually used for verses in the Bible, exponent, etc. TO CHANGE THE FONT SIZE: STEP 1: Highlight the selected text STEP 2: Go to the “FONT” group under the “HOME” tab STEP 3: Click on the arrow beside the Size box and select the chosen FONT SIZE NOTE Users can also make FONTS LARGER or SMALLER by clicking on the INCREASE FONT SIZE and DECREASE FONT SIZE buttons. TO CHANGE THE FONT COLOR: STEP 1: Highlight the selected text STEP 2: Go to the “FONT” group under the “HOME” tab STEP 3: Click on the arrow beside the Font Color and select the chosen color TO CHANGE THE FONT COLOR: STEP 1: Click the Highlight button on the Font group of the Ribbon, or STEP 2: Select the text and right click and select the highlight tool STEP 3: To change the color of the highlighter click on the down arrow next to the TEXT ALIGNMENT ALIGN LEFT CENTER ALIGN RIGHT JUSTIFIED ALIGNING THE TEXT TEXT ALIGNMENT ALIGN LEFT The text is align with the left margin TEXT ALIGNMENT CENTER The text is centered within the margin TEXT ALIGNMENT ALIGN RIGHT Aligns text with the right margin TEXT ALIGNMENT JUSTIFY Aligns text to both the left and right margins SPELLING AND GRAMMAR CHECKING SPELLING AND GRAMMAR CHECKING RED UNDERLINE Wrong Spelling SPELLING AND GRAMMAR CHECKING GREEN UNDERLINE Grammatical Error SPELLING AND GRAMMAR CHECKING BLUE UNDERLINE Contextual Spelling Error SPELLING AND GRAMMAR CHECKING. “REVIEW” Tab ---> “PROOFING” Group ---> SPELLING AND GRAMMAR THANK YOU
