ICT Introduction to PowerPoint for Beginners Grades: 4-7 Developed By: PC Moller 2023 Lesson 1: Getting Started with PowerPoint Objective: Understand what PowerPoint is and learn how to create a new presentation. 1.1 What is PowerPoint? PowerPoint is a computer program that helps us make presentations. A presentation is like a digital poster that you can show on a screen. 1.2 Opening PowerPoint Turn on the computer. Find the "Start" button (Windows) or the "Applications" folder (Mac). Look for "Microsoft PowerPoint" and click on it. 1.3 Creating a New Presentation When PowerPoint opens, click on "Blank Presentation." You can choose a design later, so don't worry about it for now. Lesson 2: Making Your First Slide Objective: Learn how to add and edit the first slide in your presentation. 2.1 Adding a Title Slide Look at the left side; you'll see a big slide with "Click to add title" and "Click to add subtitle." Click there and type your title and a short description. 2.2 Saving Your Work Click on "File" at the top left. Choose "Save As" and give your presentation a name. Lesson 4: Adding Text and Pictures Objective: Learn how to put text and pictures on your slides. 4.1 Writing Text Click where it says "Click to add title" and "Click to add text." Then type your title and information. 4.2 Adding Pictures Click on "Insert" at the top. Choose "Pictures" to add a picture from your computer. Find a picture, click on it, and then click "Insert." 4.3 Copying and Pasting Text and Pictures Select the text or picture you want to copy by clicking on it. Right-click on it, and a menu will appear. Click "Copy" to copy it. Go to the slide where you want to paste it. Right-click on the slide, and choose "Paste Option (Clipboard A)." Lesson 5: Slide Design and Transitions Objective: Learn how to make your slides look nice and add transitions between them. 5.1 Design Ideas Click on "Design" at the top. You can pick a design template here to make your presentation look great. 5.2 Changing Variants/Colours Click on "Design" again. Then click on " Variants" to change the colour scheme of your slides. 5.3 Slide Transitions Click on "Transitions" at the top. You can choose different effects for how your slides change from one to another. Lesson 6: Adding Animation Objective: Learn how to make things on your slides move. 6.1 Adding Animation Click on an object (text or picture) on your slide. Go to the "Animations" tab. Click on "Add Animation" and choose an animation effect, like "Appear" or "Fade." 6.2 Previewing Animations Click on "Slide Show" at the top and choose "From Beginning." See how your animations work when you go through your slides.
