Trimming •How to trim a video What is Handbrake Handbrake is the video editing software we primarily use to reduce file size of video recordings. Handbrake can also be used to convert, trim and compress videos. Requirements When attaching media to bugs, clients usually require these clips to be under a certain file size. Handbrake allows us to ensure we can send all the relevant data without exceeding this limit. • Videos must be in .mp4 format. • Check what is the max size file in your project (in MB). • Always rename the file. Please check your project for more info. How to use Handbrake - Demo Each step will be described in the next slides. Reduce the file size 1. 2. Open Handbrake Drag-and-Drop your file in You can reduce the file size by clicking on Presets > General > VeryFast 480p30. You can do a higher quality reduction by selecting ‘Fast 720p30’. How to save files 3 1. On the bottom part of the software window, you can see “Save as”. Make sure that you have an appropriate name for your media. 1.You can change your file location by selecting Browse. 2 2. Make sure you are saving your video in .mp4 format. 3. Press “Start Encode” to save your media to your chosen destination. 1 Tips - Audio If audio isn’t required for your video – simply remove it to further reduce the file size. To do so, select the audio tab and press “X”. Please do so after selecting your video quality. Tips – MP4 format Another way to ensure that your recordings are always in mp4 is to set that as default in the preferences menu. 1. 2. 3. Select Tools. Select Output Files. Select the MP4 File Extension drop-down menu. It will save automatically. Tips - Size After reducing the size and ensuring the file is .mp4, you may want to check the size of your file. You can do so by a Left-clicking on your file and selecting properties. Trim Video Apart from reducing the file size, you can trim your video as well. 1. 2. 3. 4. Change Range from Chapters to Seconds. Select the start and end of your video by setting the start and end points to cut off the beginning and end of the video respectively.
