The Book of Revelation has long been shrouded in mystery and fear, often due to misunderstandings about the Rapture and the Tribulation. As 1 John 4:18 reminds us, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.” Fear can hinder believers from demonstrating love and fulfilling their Christian duties. Many Christians tremble at the thought of the Tribulation, unsure whether they will face its trials. Some worry about experiencing it before the Rapture, others halfway through, and some believe Christians will be entirely spared. This uncertainty breeds fear, dividing the body of Christ. In the following pages, I will outline the three primary views some Christians have on the Rapture and Tribulation, supported by Scripture and key arguments. As we explore these perspectives, I invite you to consider that: We May Be Saying the Same Thing, Just from Different Angles Through prayerful study and guidance from the Holy Spirit, I have come to understand that our differing views might be complementary, rather than contradictory. This realization has freed me from fear, and I hope it will do the same for you. A Call to Seek Truth Before diving in, I urge you to: “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). “Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore” (Psalm 105:4). Do not take my word as absolute truth as I may be mistaken. Instead, pray for the Holy Spirit’s illumination, that you may discern the truth for yourself. I encourage you to note the Bible verses mentioned and read them, as they will enhance your understanding as you go through the texts. May you be blessed as you do so. 2 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). Join me on this journey as we uncover the truth and shed fear, replacing it with faith, love, and a deeper understanding of God’s plan. Rapture What is the Rapture:The Rapture is a concept in Christian eschatology referring to an end-time event when believers in Christ, both deceased and living, will be “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air. This idea is primarily based on passages from the New Testament, such as 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-52. What It Will Look Like: 1. Sudden and Transformative: The Rapture is described as a sudden event where believers are instantly transformed and taken up from the earth. 2. Resurrection of the Dead: Those who have died in Christ will be resurrected first. 3. Gathering of the Living: Believers who are alive at the time will be caught up together with the resurrected believers to meet Christ in the air. 4. Visible Return of Christ: This event will be marked by the visible return of Jesus Christ, accompanied by a trumpet call. The exact timing and details of the Rapture are subjects of various interpretations among Christians, but the central belief is that it signifies the gathering of believers to be with Christ forever. Rapture Views Pre-Tribulation Rapture View This perspective posits that the rapture will occur before the tribulation period begins, sparing believers from the seven years of God's wrath. Supporting Bible Verses: 1. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 - "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air." 3 2. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 - "For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." 3. 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 - "I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable... For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality." 4. Revelation 3:10 - "Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth." 5. John 14:2-3 - "My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." Key Arguments: - Believers are promised to be delivered from God's wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). - The rapture is described as a sudden, instantaneous event (1 Corinthians 15:50-54). - The Church is absent from Revelation 4-18, which describes the tribulation period. Mid-Tribulation Rapture View This perspective posits that the rapture will occur halfway through the tribulation period (3.5 years), around the time of the "abomination of desolation" mentioned in Daniel 9:27 and Matthew 24:15. Supporting Bible Verses: 1. Daniel 9:27 - "He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation." 2. Matthew 24:15 - "So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand." 3. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 - "Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction." 4. Revelation 11:15-19 - "The seventh angel sounded his trumpet... The temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen... and there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm." 4 5. Revelation 12:6, 14 - "The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God... And the woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness." Key Arguments: - Believers will experience the first half of the tribulation but be protected from the most severe judgments. - The "abomination of desolation" marks a midpoint in the tribulation. - The Church is symbolized by the "woman" in Revelation 12, fleeing to the wilderness for protection. Post-Tribulation Rapture View This perspective posits that the rapture will occur after the tribulation period, immediately before or simultaneously with Christ's Second Coming. Supporting Bible Verses: 1. Matthew 24:29-31 - "Immediately after the distress of those days... they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven." 2. Mark 13:24-27 - "But in those days, following that distress... they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory." 3. 2 Peter 3:10-13 - "The day of the Lord will come like a thief... What kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives." 4. Revelation 19:11-21 - "I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse... The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses." 5. Revelation 20:4-6 - "I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge... They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." Key Arguments: - Believers will endure the entire tribulation period. - The rapture and Second Coming are concurrent events. - The focus is on perseverance and faithfulness during tribulation. Unifying the Perspectives: A Harmonized Understanding In the previous pages, we explored various views on the Rapture and Tribulation by several Christians around the world, each with its unique insights and scriptural backing. It's essential 5 to revisit and consider each perspective, as they collectively lay the groundwork for the comprehensive explanation that follows. Take Note: A Guiding Framework As you read the forthcoming explanation, keep in mind the key points from each view: - Pre-Tribulation Rapture - Mid-Tribulation Rapture - Post-Tribulation Rapture These views, though seemingly disparate, contain vital elements that converge to form a cohesive narrative. The following explanation will synthesize these perspectives, revealing a harmonized understanding of the Rapture and Tribulation sequence. A Unified Timeline Emerges Through the Holy Spirit's guidance, we'll weave together the scriptural threads, creating a tapestry that showcases God's majestic plan. This integrated explanation will: - Clarify the relationships between the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming - Reveal the roles of believers, Israel, and the Church in God's plan - Provide a biblical framework for understanding the end-times Prepare to See the Bigger Picture! As we delve into this unified explanation, I must inform you that, this is a very sensitive topic in the Christian faith so I urge you to pray for the Spirit's illumination once again, that you may: "Understand the word of God and receive the mysteries of the kingdom" (Matthew 13:11-12). "Have the eyes of your understanding enlightened" (Ephesians 1:18). First of all I’d like you to look at the break down of the book of Revelation before we proceed to the carefully explained unification. Here's the structured breakdown: Revelation 1:19 (NKJV) "Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this." The Threefold Division of Revelation 6 1. What John Had Seen (Past): Revelation 1 - Jesus revealed to John (Revelation 1:1-18) - The vision of the glorified Christ (Revelation 1:12-18) 2. What Was Then (Present): Revelation 2-3 - Letters to the Seven Churches (Revelation 2:1-3:22) - Church era, persecution, and martyrdom (e.g., Stephen, Acts 7) 3. What Will Happen (Future): Revelation 4-22 - Rapture of the Church: Revelation 4-5 - The Church is taken up to heaven (Revelation 4:1-2) - Worship and praise in heaven (Revelation 5) - Tribulation and Judgment: Revelation 6-19 - Seal judgments (Revelation 6) - Trumpet judgments (Revelation 8-11) - Bowl judgments (Revelation 16) - Return of Jesus and End of the Old World: Revelation 19 - Jesus returns as King of Kings (Revelation 19:11-21) - Defeat of the Antichrist and false prophet (Revelation 19:20) - The Millennium: Revelation 20 - Satan bound for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-3) - Reign with Jesus for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:4-6) - New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem: Revelation 21-22 - Creation of a new heaven and earth (Revelation 21:1-5) - The New Jerusalem, eternal dwelling (Revelation 21:9-27) The Threefold Order of Salvation 1. Persecution (First Martyrs): Salvation through faith, demonstrated by early Christian martyrs (Revelation 2-3) 2. Free Salvation (by Faith in Jesus): Salvation offered to all through faith in Jesus Christ (Revelation 4-5) 3. Purchased Salvation (by Blood): Salvation secured through the blood of martyrs during the Tribulation (Revelation 6-19) This structure highlights the logical progression of Revelation, from the past (what John had seen) to the present (the Church era) and finally to the future (the Rapture, Tribulation, Millennium, and eternity). 7 Now that you have a basic understanding of the order of the book of Revelation, let's proceed to uncover the harmonized truth, replacing fear with faith and clarity. The First Rapture and the Tribulation (Pre-triblation rapture) The First Rapture, a significant event in Christian eschatology, takes place before the Tribulation. During this time, Christians who have professed their faith in Jesus will be taken up in the spirit, reflecting the presence of the Holy Spirit within them, they are the Church. However, some Christians will remain on Earth during the initial phases of the Tribulation for a specific purpose, these people aren’t just believers like me and probably you as well, I believe they are the 144,000 Israelites (12,000 from each tribe) mentioned in Revelation 7:3-8, 14:1-5. Continue reading to discover why God chose these individuals and their role during mid-tribulation period! Scriptural Foundation Revelation 4:1-2 (NLT) sets the stage: "Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, 'Come up here (divine invitation), and I will show you what must happen after this.' And instantly (1Corinthians 15:52) I was in the Spirit (the first rapture), and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it (heavenly encounter with the Lord)." This passage marks the beginning of John's heavenly vision, where he witnesses future events. It also signifies the first rapture of the saints. Look intently and you’ll understand what I mean. Connecting Key Passages Revelation 4:1-2: This passage describes John being called up to heaven by a voice like that of a trumpet, symbolizing the rapture and the beginning of the revelation of end-time events. It emphasizes the divine invitation and the vision of heavenly glory. 1 Corinthians 15:50-52: Paul speaks about the mystery of the resurrection, where the perishable will be clothed with the imperishable. At the last trumpet, the dead will be raised imperishable, and the living will be changed. This highlights the transformation and victory over death. 1 Thessalonians 4:16: This verse describes the Lord descending from heaven with a commanding shout, the voice of the archangel ( Rev 10:1-3:I saw a mighty angel coming 8 down out of the sky, clothed with a cloud. A rainbow was on his head. His face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire (The description of Jesus in Revelation 1:12-16). He had in his hand a little open book. He set his right foot on the sea, and his left on the land. He cried with a loud voice, as a lion roars (claiming the Earth and sea as his territory (His kingdom which he purchased from Satan(The prince of the world) with his blood (Revelation 11:15)). When he cried, the seven thunders uttered their voices.), and the trumpet call of God. The dead in Christ will rise first, followed by the living believers who will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord. These passages indeed share some profound common themes, particularly related to the second coming of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the transformation of believers. Common Themes: The Trumpet Call: All three passages mention a trumpet, symbolizing a divine announcement and the gathering of believers. Resurrection and Transformation: They emphasize the resurrection of the dead and the transformation of the living believers. Heavenly Encounter: Each passage points to a significant encounter with the divine, whether it’s being called up to heaven, meeting the Lord in the air, or the transformation into imperishable bodies (Romans 8:23). These themes offer hope and assurance of eternal life and the ultimate victory over death, reflecting the interconnectedness of faith, hope, and love in the Christian journey (1Corinthians 13:13). Key Takeaways 1. The First Rapture occurs pre-tribulation, ensuring believers' escape from God's wrath. 2. Confessing faith in Jesus before the Tribulation is crucial for participation in the First Rapture. 3. These passages offer hope and assurance of eternal life. Additional Insights - Two distinct groups of Christians: pre-tribulation saints (the Church) and tribulation saints (mid and post-tribulation martyrs). - The importance of confessing faith in Jesus before the Tribulation in order to be saved from the tribulation. 9 Supporting Passages John 14:2-3:"There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am." 2 Thessalonians 2:1:"Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him." Revelation 3:10:"Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world." A Plea for salvation I plead that you believe in Jesus and repent of your sins, if you haven’t, especially now that we still have time to escape the tribulation. It’s the easiest thing you can ever do as a person to save yourself from so much suffering and condemnation in the future. It’s as simple as confessing that “JESUS IS LORD” and believing in your heart always, that God raised him from the dead, so you could be saved (raptured before the tribulation or when you die). Rom 10:9: that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. I want you to know: GOD LOVES YOU John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 5:8: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ALL ARE SINNERS Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Ecclesiastes 7:20: “Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.” 10 GOD’S REMEDY FOR SIN 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ALL MAY BE SAVED NOW 1 Timothy 2:4: “Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” JESUS LOVES YOU, and He is willing to die over and over again just for you to dwell with Him in heaven. If you are willing to repent of your sins and follow Jesus Christ till the end, I want you to say this prayer with me: Prayer: Dear Jesus, I come to You with a humble heart. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. Thank You for loving me so deeply and for the sacrifice You made on the cross for my sins. I repent of my wrongdoings and ask for Your grace to help me turn away from them. I invite You into my life as my Lord and Savior. Help me to follow You daily and to grow in my relationship with You. Teach me Your ways and guide me in truth. I commit my life to You and trust in Your promises. Thank You for Your love and for accepting me as I am. I pray this in Your precious name, Jesus. Amen. 11 If you prayed this prayer sincerely, know that you have been saved and have taken a significant step toward drawing closer to God. Remember, He is always with you, ready to guide and support you on your journey of faith. Welcome to the body of Christ, my dear friend! Today, you have been made whole by God. Along your journey, you may stumble or even feel distant from God, but I want you to be reminded that God is always with you and will never disown you (2 Timothy 2:13). Please keep God's Word in your heart so that you may not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11). Stay blessed, brethren! Embrace this new journey with faith and trust in His unfailing love. SEEKING A CHURCH Finding a church community is an important step in growing your faith and building supportive relationships. Here’s a brief guide to help you as you seek a church: As you begin your new life in Christ, finding a church community is essential. A church is more than just a building; it’s a family where you can grow spiritually, find support, and serve others. Here are some steps to help you find the right church for you: Pray for Guidance: Start by asking God to lead you to a church where you can grow and serve. Trust that He will guide your steps. Identify Your Needs: Consider what you are looking for in a church. Do you prefer a large congregation with many programs or a smaller, more intimate setting? Think about the style of worship, the teaching, and the community activities that are important to you. Research and Visit: Look up churches in your area. Many churches have websites where you can learn about their beliefs, services, and ministries. Visit a few to see where you feel most at home. Don’t be afraid to attend a few services before making a decision. Check Doctrinal Beliefs: Ensure the church’s teachings align with biblical doctrine. It’s important that the church preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ and adheres to the Bible as the ultimate authority. 13 Get Involved: Once you find a church, get involved! Join a small group, volunteer, and participate in church activities. Building relationships and serving others will help you grow in your faith. Seek Mentorship: Look for opportunities to be mentored by more mature Christians. Their guidance and support can be invaluable as you navigate your new faith journey. Remember, no church is perfect because it’s made up of imperfect people. However, a good church will help you grow closer to God and provide a community where you can thrive. Hebrews 10:25: “Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Matthew 18:20: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” ASSURANCE AS A BELIEVER This is a significant and joyous step in your spiritual journey. As a new believer, it’s natural to seek assurance in your faith. Here are some key points to help you understand and embrace the assurance you have as a believer: 1. God’s Promise of Salvation Your assurance begins with God’s promises. The Bible assures us that if we confess our sins and believe in Jesus Christ, we are saved. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This promise is the foundation of your assurance. 2. The Holy Spirit’s Presence When you accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within you. The Holy Spirit is a constant reminder of God’s presence and a seal of your salvation. Romans 8:16 says, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” This inner witness provides a deep sense of assurance. 3. Transformation and Growth As you grow in your faith, you’ll notice changes in your thoughts, actions, and desires. This transformation is evidence of God’s work in your life. Philippians 1:6 encourages us with these words: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Your ongoing growth is a sign of your secure relationship with God. 4. God’s Unchanging Nature 14 God’s love and promises are unchanging. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Your assurance is not based on your feelings or circumstances but on the unchanging nature of God and His promises. 5. Community and Support Being part of a faith community is essential. Fellow believers can provide encouragement, support, and accountability. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.” Surrounding yourself with a supportive community strengthens your assurance. 6. Scriptural Assurance Regularly reading and meditating on Scripture reinforces your assurance. Verses like 1 John 5:13, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life,” provide clear and comforting assurance of your salvation. Remember, assurance is not about never having doubts but about trusting in God’s promises and His faithfulness. As you continue to grow in your relationship with Christ, your assurance will deepen, bringing you peace and confidence in your faith journey. Welcome to the family of God! 1 John 5:13: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” Romans 8:38-39: “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The Tribulation Begins (mid-tribulation rapture) Now that you’ve given your life to Christ, I encourage you to read the following with joy in your heart, knowing fully well you’re saved and will not experience the events you’re about to read now,if you continue on this path. Here's a brief definition and overview of the Tribulation, along with major events and supporting Bible verses: Definition: The Tribulation is a seven-year period of intense suffering, judgment, and wrath upon the earth, preceding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (His final return). 15 Major Events: 1. The Rise of the Antichrist (1 John 2:18, Revelation 13:1-10) - A powerful, deceptive leader will emerge, opposing God and persecuting believers. 2. Seal Judgments (Revelation 6:1-17) - God's wrath poured out through seven seals, causing global chaos and destruction. 3. Trumpet Judgments (Revelation 8:6-9:21, 11:15-19) - Angels sound trumpets, unleashing plagues and catastrophes upon the earth. 4. The Abomination of Desolation (Matthew 24:15, Daniel 9:27, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4) - The Antichrist defiles the Temple, sparking a severe persecution of believers (those who refuse to receive his mark and worship his image after the first rapture). 5. The Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13:16-18) - The Antichrist imposes a global economic system, requiring allegiance to him. 6. The Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21, Revelation 7:14) - Unprecedented suffering and martyrdom of believers. 7. The Return of Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:11-21) - Jesus returns, defeating the Antichrist and establishing His kingdom on Earth and reigns with the 144,000 and the tribulation saints for 1000 years while the Church (first raptured believers) will be in heaven, enjoying the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Key Bible Verses: - "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be." (Matthew 24:21) - "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved." (Matthew 10:22) 16 - "For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thessalonians 5:9) Remember, the Tribulation serves as a time of judgment for the world and refinement for believers, ultimately leading to the triumphant return of Jesus Christ. “Carefully read the following paragraph to identify the individuals Jesus refers to in Matthew 10:22.” Following the rapture, the tribulation period starts (Revelation 6:12-17, 7:1-9). As mentioned earlier, some Christians will remain on Earth, not due to a lack of the Holy Spirit, but because they have a specific mission to fulfill during this time. The 144,000 Israelites, from the 12 tribes of Israel, will be marked on their foreheads (Revelation 7:3-8) and sent out to preach and testify about Christ (these represent the believers in the mid-tribulation). Their goal is to persuade those left behind to believe in Jesus and repent of their sins during the tribulation (Revelation 14:1-5). During this period, being a Christian will be extremely challenging, as it may require enduring persecution and even martyrdom, similar to the early days of the faith (Revelation 6:10-11). The Book of Revelation contains several passages that suggest some Christians will be present during the tribulation. One key passage is Revelation 7:9-14, which describes a “great multitude” from every nation, tribe, people, and language standing before the throne and the Lamb. These individuals are said to have "come out of the great tribulation”, they are believed to be the tribulation saints who eventually believed in Christ during the tribulation, but had to die by persecution instead of the easy way God provided before the first Rapture of the Church happened (By Simply believing and confessing that Jesus Christ, the son of God is Lord and that God rose him from the dead to atone for our sins, holding on to that faith till his return). This implies that tribulation saints suffered the tribulation but remained faithful till death (Revelation 7:14-17). I believe that the Israelites represents the woman clothed with the sun with the moon under her feet and a crown of 12 stars on her head (Joseph’s dream) in Revelation 12 and are chosen to be witnesses of Jesus Christ and to preach the Gospel during the tribulation (mid-tribulation). I also believe that God selected the Israelites for this task instead of the believing Gentiles (who were raptured along with other unsealed Israelites before the tribulation) because the Israelites are known for their strong-willed nature (Ezekiel 3:6-7). In contrast, Gentiles are more easily swayed by what they hear (2 Corinthians 11:3-4). This strong-willed nature makes it more difficult for the 144,000 to receive the mark of the beast or worship his image during the tribulation. This group is referenced in Revelation 7:4-8 and Revelation 14:1-5. 17 Ezekiel 3:6-7: 6 not to many peoples of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words you can’t understand. Surely, if I sent you to them (Gentiles), they would listen to you. 7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they will not listen to me; for all the house of Israel are obstinate and hard-hearted. 2Corithians 11:3-4:3 But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted (Paul speaks to the Gentiles), just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. 4 You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed. Revelation 14:1-5:"Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had his name and had been marked on their foreheads. These are they who have not been defiled by women, nor have they ever worshiped any god except their God. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased with the blood of the Lamb and have made God their God. They have no fault to find with their brothers and sisters in the faith standing up for God and keeping God's commandments have the right to the tree of life and to enter through the gates of the city of God." These verses indicate that the 144,000 Israelites are a special group of believers who are chosen by God to preach the Gospel and warn people about the impending judgment during the tribulation. They are marked with the name of the Lamb (Jesus Christ) on their foreheads, symbolizing their allegiance to him. They can neither be deceived nor corrupted during the tribulation, this is why they were chosen. Their mission is to call people to repentance and to encourage them to worship God alone. But yet some people still refuse to listen and turn from their evil ways, even till the point that angel still had to come to come down to warn them to turn to God before his final judgement is poured upon the earth. Revelation 14:6-7 states:"Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, 'Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and everything in them." Additionally, Revelation 6:9-11 speaks of martyrs who were slain for the word of God and their testimony in the past during the time of persecution of Christians. These martyrs are given white robes and told to rest until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they were is completed. This indicates that there will be believers who will suffer and die for their faith during this period. These passages suggest that while some 18 Christians (The Church) may be protected or raptured, others will have to endure the tribulation (Tribulation Saints), maintaining their faith despite the trials. Revelation 7:4: “Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.” Those who accept Christ as their Savior during this time will have to go through physical death due to their refusal to receive the mark of the beast and worship it’s image during the tribulation. Revelation 13:15-17: “The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. Tribulation Saints: Tribulation saints are unbelievers who eventually believed in God and repented of their sins during the tribulation (after the rapture of the the church, those who believed first). Those who are killed during the tribulation go to heaven and are given white robes with palm branches (Revelation 7:9). These are the tribulation saints who will stand before God. Revelation 7:9: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes (they were made clean) and were holding palm branches in their hands (palm branches symbolize peace and humility towards God after rebelling against God during the Church era before the tribulation). They will also serve God day and night while God’s presence covers them (Revelations 7:14-15). This shows how much God loves everyone and desires for everyone to be saved no matter the cost (Romans 2:4), not by his force, but by your choice!. The Church: ”Those who believed before the tribulation (the Church) will sit with Jesus on His throne. Revelation 3:21: "To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne." they are also referred to as the bride of Jesus (2Corinthians 11:2). Ephesians 5:25-27: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish". 19 Revelation 19:7-9: "Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints" Revelation 21:2: "Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband" Revelation 21:9: "Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, ‘Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife’" 2 Corinthians 11:2: "For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ" These verses beautifully illustrate the intimate and loving relationship between Christ and the church. The Absence of the Church: Did you notice that the term “church” is no longer used from Revelation 6-19?, this is because they will be taken along with the Holy Spirit during the first rapture, making it harder for people to be Christians during the tribulation due to constant persecution. 2 Thessalonians 2:7: “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.” This is often understood to refer to the Holy Spirit’s restraining influence being removed, which some believe coincides with the rapture of the church. Revelation 3:10: “Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.” This verse is interpreted by some to mean that believers will be kept from the tribulation period. Salvation During the Tribulation:Those left behind now have to receive salvation by their death, or endure the tribulation until Jesus returns again, which is a lot harder. Revelation 20:4: “I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 20 The true reason behind tribulation: God's final Call to Repentance God didn't send the Tribulation to punish unbelievers capriciously. Rather, it's a final plea for humanity to repent and worship Him alone. But yet many still refuse. Luke 7:32 (NKJV):"But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, and saying: 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned to you, and you did not lament.'" This verse illustrates God's repeated attempts to reach humanity by the easy way first, then the hard way. Isn’t he a loving God?, but yet it baffles me that people still refuse to repent and turn to him even after all this!. Supporting Bible Verses: - God desires repentance, not punishment (2 Peter 3:9): "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." - Tribulation as refinement (Zechariah 13:9): "I will bring one-third through the fire, and refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested." - Call to worship God alone (Revelation 14:7): "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water." - Consequence of refusing God (Revelation 20:15): "And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." - God's mercy and justice (Romans 11:22): "Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness." These verses demonstrate God's desire for humanity's repentance and worship, highlighting the Tribulation as a final opportunity for salvation before his full judgement on the Earth (those who still refuse to repent and worship God during and after the tribulation). Key Takeaway 21 The Tribulation serves as God's ultimate call to repentance, urging humanity to turn from sin and worship Him alone. Those who refuse will face the consequences of their choices. The Second Coming of Jesus (post-tribulation rapture) Finally, after the tribulation, Jesus will return a second time and take those who were sealed and those who did not receive the mark of the beast nor worship it (this sin is unforgivable, and those who do so will burn in the presence of God and his Holy angels (Revelation 14:9-11). Revelation 19:11-16: “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” According to biblical prophecy, during the 1,000-year reign, Christ and the Tribulation saints will reign on the restored earth. Reign on Restored Earth - Isaiah 2:2-4: The mountain of the Lord (Zion) will be established, and nations will stream to it. - Micah 4:1-5: God will reign from Mount Zion, and peace will cover the earth. - Revelation 20:4-6: Tribulation saints will reign with Christ on earth for 1,000 years. The Church (First Rapture Saints) During the 1,000-year reign, the Church (first set of raptured believers) will be in heaven, enjoying the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. - Revelation 19:7-10: The Church, as the Bride of Christ, will participate in the Marriage Supper. - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: Raptured believers will be with the Lord in heaven. 22 Relationship Between the Church and Tribulation Saints Though separated temporarily, both groups will be united in eternity. - Revelation 21:9-14: The New Jerusalem, comprising all redeemed saints, will descend to the new earth. Revelation 20:5-7 is talking about the Tribulation saints, specifically those who are martyred during the Tribulation period. Revelation 20:5-7 (NKJV) 1. "But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection." 2. "Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." 3. "And when the thousand years are expired, Satan will be released from his prison" Context and Explanation: - "The rest of the dead" (v. 5) refers to those who did not participate in the first resurrection, which is the resurrection of the Church (1 Corinthians 15:50-54, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). - The "first resurrection" (v. 5-6) includes Tribulation saints who were martyred and resurrected to reign with Christ for 1,000 years. - These saints are "blessed and holy" (v. 6) and will be priests of God and Christ. Key Locations During 1,000-Year Reign 1. Restored Earth: Tribulation saints will reign with Christ. 2. Heaven: The Church (raptured believers) will participate in the Marriage Supper. 3. New Jerusalem: All redeemed saints will dwell together in eternity. 23 In summary, Tribulation saints will reign with Christ on the restored earth, while the Church (raptured believers) will be in heaven, awaiting the Marriage Supper. Ultimately, all redeemed saints will unite in the New Jerusalem. After reigning with Christ for 1,000 years, the Tribulation saints, along with the redeemed from all ages, will enter the New Heaven and New Earth, experiencing eternal bliss and fellowship with God. Revelation 21:1-4, 22-27 Here's what happens: 1. New Heaven and New Earth: God creates a new, sinless, and perfect universe (Revelation 21:1). 2. Eternal Habitation: The redeemed, including Tribulation saints, will dwell in the New Jerusalem, enjoying eternal fellowship with God (Revelation 21:2-3). 3. No More Sorrow: All tears, pain, and sorrow will be erased (Revelation 21:4). 4. River of Life: The redeemed will have access to the River of Life, symbolizing eternal life and communion with God (Revelation 22:1-2). 5. No Need for Sun or Moon: God's presence will illuminate the New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 22:5). 6. Eternal Reign: The redeemed will reign with Christ forever (Revelation 22:5). Additional Bible Verses: - 1 Corinthians 15:28 (God will be all in all) - Philippians 3:20-21 (glorified bodies) - 1 John 3:2 (we will be like Him) What happens to their physical bodies? The Tribulation saints, like all believers, will receive glorified bodies, similar to Jesus' post- resurrection body (Philippians 3:20-21, 1 Corinthians 15:35-49). 24 Will they still be distinguishable as Tribulation saints? While retaining their unique experiences and testimonies, they will be united with the broader body of Christ, sharing in the collective identity as children of God. In eternity, the distinctions between Church, Tribulation saints, and Old Testament saints will fade, as all will be one in Christ, worshiping and reigning together. Summary Pre-Tribulation Rapture: Jesus' Conquest of Death and the Role of the Holy Spirit One compelling reason to believe in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Church is Jesus' victory over death, which transformed the path to salvation (Romans 6:23). Jesus Conquered Death (1 Corinthians 15:55-57) Before Jesus' sacrifice, death was the penalty for sin (Romans 6:23). However, Jesus' resurrection conquered death, providing a new way to attain salvation through faith in Him (1 Corinthians 15:55-57). Romans 6:3: Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? The Holy Spirit: Seal of Salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 1:22) When we confess faith in Jesus, we receive the Holy Spirit as a seal, guaranteeing our salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 1:22). This seal indicates that believers will not face death to attain salvation. Rapture: Removal of the Church and the Holy Spirit (2 Thessalonians 2:7) At the Rapture, the Church, indwelled by the Holy Spirit, will be taken up to heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). The Holy Spirit's departure with the Church means that unbelievers will no longer have the conviction and guidance of the Spirit (2 Thessalonians 2:7). Tribulation: No Salvation Except Through Death or Endurance (Revelation 6:9-11, 7:14) During the Tribulation, salvation will only be possible through: 25 1. Death as a martyr (Revelation 6:9-11) 2. Endurance until Jesus' return (Revelation 7:14) The 144,000 sealed Jews (Revelation 7:4-8) and those who endure will be saved. Jesus' conquest of death and the role of the Holy Spirit as a seal of salvation support a Pre- Tribulation Rapture. Believers will be raptured before the Tribulation, escaping the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 5:9). Supporting Bible Verses: - 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 - Ephesians 1:13-14 - 2 Corinthians 1:22 - 2 Thessalonians 2:7 - Revelation 6:9-11 - Revelation 7:4-8, 14 - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 - 1 Thessalonians 5:9 Conclusion In conclusion, our exploration of the Book of Revelation's Rapture and Tribulation sequence has shed light on the diverse perspectives within the Christian community. By examining Pre- Tribulation, Mid-Tribulation, and Post-Tribulation views, we've seen that, despite differences, each offers valuable insights into God's plan. As we synthesize these views, a harmonized narrative emerges, revealing the intricate relationships between the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming. This unified understanding reminds us that, above all, our focus should be on deepening our faith, demonstrating love, and fulfilling our Christian duties. May our study dispel fear and foster clarity, empowering us to stand firm in the truth. As we look to the future, may our hearts be filled with hope and our spirits guided by the promise: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1) 26 Closing Remark Please endeavour to read this booklet as many times as possible, doing this helps to bring more understanding and also brings to thought some of the things you may have missed while reading the first time.
