The anchor ingredient- The relationship between the audience and the anchorperson is very important aspect in the TV news communication. 3. Story-telling- the viewer cannot interrupt the flow of the story. Principles of Broadcast for TV 1. Linear Clarity- Viewers get the news in a flow of information that is constantly mobbing forward. MESSAGE- Three-fold mission Information Educate What information should you write in COMMUNITY BROADCASTING? Entertain Types of Script for BROADCAST Development News Script Interview Script Drama Script Programs Script Documentary Magazine Musical School-on-the-Air Types of Script for BROADCAST Development News Script News must report the facts about the events and issues in the community and not the broadcasters’ interpretation of the significance of the events. Agriculture Environment Social Issues Community Development Performance of Government services Public Servants Science and Technology Nutrition News Script Structure for BROADCAST HEADLINE -Title of the story -Provide an overview of the topic answers 5W’s LEAD -Start a strong lead - Tell them what you are going to tell them -Detail about the topic, answers the Why and How BODY -Tell them about the content CONCLUSION -Summary of the topic - Tell them what you told them News Script Structure for BROADCAST HEADLINE The headlines are what the listener will hear first and they’ll be a deal breaker in convincing him to keep listening. They can be compared to the first sentence of an anchor intro or a copy. They give the most important news and catch the listener’s ear. A good headline should be concise, engaging, and accurately reflect the main point of the story. Use strong verbs and vivid language to make your headline stand out and entice viewers to continue watching or listening. HEADLINE Sensationalized Headline EX. Isang lalaki sinaksak, grabe! Mainstream Headline EX. Isang lalaki sa Baguio City, sinaksak EX. Imbestigasion ng mga kapulisan sa pananaksak Updated Headline sa isang lalaki, nagpapatuloy EX. What’s the point? 2.Conversational writing. The anchor sounds like they’re speaking with someone, rather than reading a script at them. 3.Most important facts of the story presented in a narrative. Remember how impact and emotion drive good storytelling. News Script Structure for BROADCAST The art of the lead Use clear and powerful statements so viewers know why they should care. LEAD Always understand how your story affects viewers before writing your lead. Active writing. New, Now, Next. Mom rule: write the way you’d talk to your mom.
