Switch off your computer. 38 Unit 4 Paint Lesson Getting Started 1 Paint is a Windows tool for making new or editing exiting pictures. To open paint in your windows do the following: 1. Go to your windows 10 search box and type “Paint”. 2. Select “Paint” from the search results. 3. There are a lot of shapes in Paint basics. To make “a shape”, do the following: 1. F rom the Shapes group, select a shape (oval shape). 2. Select the size of the stroke from Size dropdown menu in Home tab. 3. Start making shape on the drawing area. 1 2 3 42 Lesson 4 1 tinU Coloring Shapes To make our drawings look good, we can color them using “Fill with color tool”. To fill the color in any shape, do the following: 1. From toolbox, select “Fill with color tool”. 2. Select the color from the Color group. 3. Left click once inside the shape. 4. Your shape will be colored. 1 2 Click here Note You can select more colors from “Edit Colors” option. 34 43 Lesson Free Drawing 5 You can draw whatever you want with the help of Pencil tool or the Brushes. You can draw thin, free-form lines or curves. To make “a shape”, do the following: 1. F rom toolbox, select Pencil Tool or Brushes Tool. 2. From the Color group, select the two colors you want to draw with. 3. To draw with color 1, left click and hold till you draw what you like. 4. To draw with color 2, right click and hold till you finish. 5. From tool box, select “Fill with Color” and click inside your drawing. 1 2 3 44 1 tinU 4 5 1. We used brown as color 1, red as color 2, and Note green and blue to color the walls of the house. 2. You can draw with the Pencil tool or the Brushes tool and you can select different thicknesses for each one. 54 45 Lesson Opening Pictures in Paint 6 We can open our pictures to edit in paint. To open a picture in paint, do the following: 1. Open Paint. 2. Click on the File tab. 3. From the drop-down menu, click “Open”. 4. Go to the location of the picture you want to open. 5. Select the picture and click Open. 6. The picture will appear in the Drawing area. 1 2 46 1 tinU 3 4 5 6 74 47 Lesson Rotating a Picture 7 We can use rotation in Paint to rotate pictures °90 Left, right, 180 Degrees, or flip vertically or horizontally. To rotate an entire picture, do the following: 1. O pen the picture you want to rotate. 2. Click the “Rotate” in Home tab, a drop-down menu will appear. 3. Select the rotation type (for example Flip Vertical). 4. You picture will flip vertically. 1 2 48 1 tinU 3 4 You can rotate a part of the Note picture by selecting the part you want to rotate and then choosing the type of rotation. 94 49 Lesson Selection Tool 8 Selection tool is helpful in selecting a part of the picture. You can delete or crop the selected part. To use Selection tool, do the following: 1. Click on the Selection tool. 2. Select a part of the picture by clicking and dragging the pointer. 3. Hold click and drag pointer to move the selected part to the new location in the drawing area. 4. Press “Delete” on your keyboard to remove that part of selection. 1 2 50 1 tinU 3 4 15 51 Lesson Cropping a Picture 9 To crop a picture, do the following: 1. Open the picture you want to crop. 2. Click on the Selection tool and select the part you want to keep. 3. Press Crop in the Home tab. 4. To resize a picture or a part, do the following: 1. pen the picture you want to resize. O 2. Click “Resize”, a new window will appear. 3. Enter the desired values and click Ok. 4. You should check “Maintain aspect ratio” to avoid stretching the graphic out of proportion 3. You can select a part of the picture and then resize it. 55 55 Practical Exercise Do the following task on Paint. 1. Open your computer. 2. Open Paint program. 3. Draw a car. 4. Color the car with your favorite colors. 5. Draw a circle shape and color outline “Blue”. 6. Select the car and put it in the circle. 7. Write your name under the circle shape with color “Green”. 8. Select the whole shape and copy it. 9. Paste the shape beside the first shape. 10. Resize your work. 11. Save your work with the name “My Car”. 56 Unit 5 Play with Paint 3D Lesson Using Paint 3D 1 Paint 3D is a new version of Paint for Windows 10 Open Paint 3D 1. C lick the Start menu. 2. Find Paint 3D. 3. Then press on New button to start a new project. 2 1 3 58 1 tinU Paint 3D User Interface Before starting with Paint 3D program, it is a good idea to review the user interface and identify the tool names. Activity 1: 95 59 Lesson Brushes Tool 2 The brushes tool displays 10 brush options in the right side panel. This panel also provides options for controlling Thickness, Opacity, Material, and Color.. Before you draw, you can select the type of brushes, thickness, material, opacity and colour. 1 2 1. C hoose a brush and draw lines by clicking the left mouse at the start point, and then dragging the cursor to draw a line. Activity 1: 2. Go the work area, click and drag to draw the shape. 36 63 Lesson Clone Tool 5 You can use the clone tool to duplicate shapes. rom the toolbar, select and drag out the multi-point star from 2D 1. To increase the text depth, use the right side rotate tool to rotate the object more than 45 degrees. 2.
