Virtues in healthcare refer to the character traits and qualities that guide healthcare providers in delivering compassionate, ethical, and high-quality care. Prudence ( Practical Wisdom) -refers to the ability to make sound, careful, and thoughtful decisions, particularly in situations that require ethical consideration or involve uncertainty. It is about choosing the right course of action based on careful judgment. Justice - is the virtue of giving each person their due, ensuring fairness and equality in the distribution of resources, opportunities, and treatment. It involves upholding the rights of individuals and ensuring that they are treated with fairness and dignity. Fortitude ( Courage) is the virtue of having the strength and courage to face challenges, overcome fear, and endure difficulties in pursuit of the right course of action. It involves perseverance in the face of adversity and standing firm in one’s moral convictions, even when it is difficult. Temperance (Moderation) -is the virtue of moderation, which involves controlling one’s desires, emotions, and actions in a way that promotes balance and avoids excess. It is about maintaining harmony and avoiding indulgence in harmful behaviors. Vices- are negative traits or behaviors that compromise the ethical standards, effectiveness, and compassion required in healthcare. a.
