Mutations are a change in structure or amount of DNA these mutations can introduce new genes into populations which can be advantageous or disadvantageous. 6. What is a mutagen? A mutagen is an agent that causes a mutation. 7. What is a point mutation? A Point Mutation is a change in a specific gene e.g. Sickle cell anaemia. 8. What is a chromosome mutation? A Chromosome Mutation is a change in a chromosome e.g. Down Syndrome. 9. Define evolution. Evolution is the inheritable genetic change in a species over a long period of time in response to changes in the environment. 10. What is a species?
