Disorders chapter8 aginal recurringyeastinfectionsfromdiabetes b c it lastslonger odor referPCP any Joe Vaginitis -Bacterial vaginosis= yellow/green sign of infection ( shy smell) -Trichomoniasis= similar to above, malador -Vulvovaginal candidiasis= “cottage cheese” w/no odor (aka Yeast infection) OTC-pharm: Vaginal Antifungals -Clotrimazole -Miconazole Nitrate (Monistat) ~all 1, 3, 7 equally safe & e ective! Up to pt preference b/c they all take same days to resolve -Ticonazole -use at NIGHT! So it stays in place laying down Vaginal itching & irritation -Benzocaine -Hydrocortizone -Povidone/Iodine products -Homeopathic products -Feminine powder EX) Vagisil —>active ingredient= Benzocaine, so it will NOT cure the infection, but helps w/the pain **Other options: lactobacillus products (yogurt, tablets probiotics), gentian violet (soak tampon in it), boric acid for non-C.
