Mandala art- Mandala art is a type of geometric art that uses a repeated circular patterns to create a design. Mandalas have a deep spiritual or cosmic meaning in many cultures and traditions. The word ‘mandala’ means Circle in Sanskrit. Illusion art- Illusion art also known as optical illusion art or OP art. It is a type of art that tricks the viewer’s eye into seeing something that isn’t there. It is optical art used to describe a painting that creates the illusion of a real object or scene. Dot painting- Dot painting is called as ‘Pointillism’. A painting technique that uses small distinct dots of color in patterns to create an image. The dots are usually applied in hundreds and are often in colors like red, yellow, blue, green and white. Dot work is helpful in increase of creativity, skill development, focus, stress relief, patience level and attention to small details. Mosaic art- It is the decoration of a surface with small variously colored pieces of material called ‘Tesserae’. Various materials can be used for mosaic art like stone, glass, and ceramic are the most common. Mosaic is the art of creating images with an assemble of small pieces of colored glass stone. Monochrome Landscape- Monochrome means ‘one color’ mixing white for tints and black for shade. A single color is chosen as the base hue that can be changed by adding either white or black paint to it repeated in a variety of tints and shades. Landscapes are well known type of art that often shows a scene from nature such as the countryside mountains, valleys, rivers, trees and forests. Kalighat painting- It is a style of Indian paintings which originated in the 19th century. Composed of bold outlines, vibrant colour tones, and minimal background details, these paintings and drawings were done on both hand-made and machine manufactured paper. The paintings depicted mythological stories, figures of Hindu gods and goddesses, as well as scenes from everyday life and society. This art originates from West Bengal. Kalamkari- kalamkari is originated from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Derving its name from the word ‘Kalam’ which means pen. Red, black, blue and yellow are the most used colors which are non-intoxicated colors extracted from natural sources like plants and herbs are used as dyes for painting. Pichwai art- Pichwai art is originated in the town of Nathdwara in Rajasthan, which is around 400 years old. Pichwai is a Sanskrit word in which ‘Pich’ stands for back and ‘wai’ stands for hanging. Pichwai paintings are referred to Mewar-style textile paintings that are found hanging on the walls of temples, houses, art galleries and museums. This folk-art form is enclosed in a dark border rich colors like red, green, yellow, white and black are used with a lot of gold decorating the figures and are identified by their characteristic features, large eyes, broad noses and heavy bodies. This art form has multiple borders with unique and intricate designs.
