State the theory of aging/elderly. 3. Explain the health problems related to aging /elderly process. 4. Explain the adaptation or health promotion related to aging/elderly. SUMMARY PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT 1. Adjust the physiological changes(eg: appearances ,sensory –perceptual ,musculoskeletal ,neurologic, cardiovascular) 2.Adapt lifestyle to diminishing energy and ability. 3.Maintain vital signs (especially blood pressure) within normal range for age and gender PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT 1. Manage retirement years in a satisfying manner. 2. Participate in social and leisure activities. 3.Have a social network of friends and support people 4. View life as worthwhile. 5. Have high self-esteem 6. Gain support from value system and/or spiritual philosophy 7. Accept and adjust to the death of significant others DEVELOPMENT IN ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING 1. Exhibit healthy practices in nutrition, exercise ,recreation ,sleep patterns, and personal health. 2. Have the ability to care for self or to secure appropriate help with ADLs. 3. Have satisfactory living arrangement and income to meet changing needs.
