INTRODUCTION TO RADIO An Introduction to Radio Radio is a medium of communication. It is a wireless set. Radio can transmit messages all around the world instantly, and the message can be received in any part of the globe. It's no secret that radio is the most popular form of public communication today. It's solely a sound-based medium. As a performer, you can't see your audience. That's why it's called a "blind medium" An Introduction to Radio It gives a lot of room for the listeners imagination. Aside from that, it is a very personal medium because the broadcaster always addresses the listener in the singular form as though he/she is talking to him alone. Hertz, a German scientist, was the first person to use a simple device to make electromagnetic waves. But the waves that he made could not travel far. In 1885, an Italian scientist named Marconi came up with electromagnetic waves that could carry messages over long distances. These electromagnetic waves travel at an amazing speed of 300,000 km per second and cover the surface of the earth in the same second.
