Quantitative analysis of carbohydrates (1): Estimation of sugar by fehling method: Aim: To know the number of grams of glucose dissolved in solution. Procedure 1-Take 5ml fehling reagent (2.5ml F.A + 2.5ml F.B). 2- Heat over hot plate till 70-80oC. Note; Heat not boiling due to: *Preventing the evaporation of water from solution. 3- Titration against sugar solution. 4- End point is reddish brown ppt. 5- Repeat 3 times and take the average. Calculation 5ml Feh = 0.067gm glucose 5ml Feh = End point So, End point = 0.067gm glucose 100ml soln = X gm glucose X= (0.067x100)/E.P gm/100ml sugar solution
