Swab Test– mucous membrane, C & S (Culture & Sensitivity) discharge Urine test – dipstick 24 hours collection- eg; throat, nasal, wound C&S 2. Stool 3.Sputum SPECIMENS TEST INDICATION Principle How to do? URINE FEME C&S A Culture - microorganism. Culture & Sensitivity A sensitivity test - to detect - an antibiotic, best to treat the illness or infection. Dipstick 24 hours collection Renal function & content of urine. STOOL Occult blood To measure occult blood Ova & Cyst Sputum C&S AFB (Acid-Fast Bacillus) - PTB PTB Blood Dextrostic Glucose level Discharge / Swab C & S mucus Urine specimen container Principles to collection urine specimen 1. FEME Clean urine 2. C & S Mid-stream urine 3. 24 hours Whole day urine (Start from 7 am – 7 am) First urine -7 am throw subsequent keep & next day 7 am urine keep & send to lab. SPUTUM COLLECTION Principles to collection sputum specimen 1. C & S 1 specimen. Ensure sputum. 2. AFB - PTB 3 – sputum specimen to be collected early morning – 1 specimen each day ( 3 days). Collect before brush teeth (no tooth paste, antiseptic), take food Early in the morning. STOOL SPECIMEN STERILE SWAB STICK THANK YOU
