Then tried asceticism (giving up all worldly pleasures) and learned that too much poverty was as harmful as too much luxury (the beginning of his doctrine of \"The Middle Way\"). Then did deep meditation (Raja yoga) in the forest, where he learned that he had been put in touch with the ultimate meaning of life. - Then after that experience, he sought out his friends, and began to communicate the meaning he had found. From that point onward, Gautama was known as the Buddha, - Then after his experience for almost five years he traveled from village to village, ministering to each person in the way he needed help. In one of his famous sermons to his followers, Buddha summarized his insight into the problem of suffering by delineating the \"Four Noble Truths\" and the \"Eightfold Path.\" - Finally, when the Buddha was more than 80 years old, he was invited to have dinner with a special friend by the name of Cunda. But he accidentally poisoned his favourite food and Buddha died with fancy last words. Key teachings in Buddhism 5 Precepts 1. Abstain from killing or harming living beings (Ahimsa) 2.
