**Scienze lesson: the parts of a plant.** 1. **Objctivies:** **Linguistici**: - expand you english vocabulary relating to the parts of a plant. - Use new words in simple sentences. - Listen and understand short descriptions of plants. **Scientifici:** - Identify the main parts of a plant (root, stem, leaves, flower, fruit). - Understand the functions of each part. **Contents:** - **vocabulary**: root, stem, leaf, flower, plant, grow, water, sunlight, soil. - **Functions**: the root absorbs water and nutrients from the soil. The stem supports the plant and transports water and nutrients to the leaves. The leaves produce food for the palnt. The flower is involved in reproduction. The fruit contains the seeds. **Activity:** Warm up: - Show children pictures of different plants. Ask them to identify the parts they recognise. - Sing a little song in english about the parts of a plant. Presentation of a vocabulary: - Use flash cards or drawings to introduce the new words. - Associate each word with a gesture or movement. **Direct observation:** - Bring several plants (or parts of plants) to class and and invite them to observe directly. - Ask them to identify the different parts and describe them briefly.
