Safety and First - aid By Ashwitha BICYCLE SAFETY Make sure the brakes work , there enough air in the tyres and all the parts are firmly in place.  Always wear helmet while riding bicycle.  Follow traffic rules if you are riding on a road. Stay away from surfaces covered with sand , gravel , water or oil because your bicycle may skid, slip over it. Ride in the bicycle lane if there is one.  AUTOMOBILE SAFETY While riding in a car , always wear the seat belt. Sit quietly or speak softly. Do not disturb the driver. Do not play stereo loudly. Do not put your head or arm out of the window. Look out for traffic while getting down from the vehicle. Always try to get down on the side of the foot path. FIRE SAFETY o Never play with candles , matches or lighters around the house. o Do not use cooking gas when you are alone. o Do not stand too close to open fires. o Do not cook or burst crackers while wearing synthethic clothes. o Do not allow an open flame near petrol pumps or near materials which catch flame easily. WATER SAFETY o Never go near water without an adult watch. o Stay away from water body such as lakes , pools. o Take swimming lessons if you do not know to swim.
