September 20, 1519 -- Actual Voyage Start October 21, 1519 -- Straight of Magellan discovered March 6, 1521 -- Guam supply replenish, boat stolen, Originally called Island of Sails but renamed to Isla de Ladrones or Island of Thieves March 16, 1521 -- Landed in Zamal (Samar), coincided with Feast of St. Lazarus, Went to Humunu (Homonhon) and met the rulers of Butuan and Caraga, Rajah SIagu and Rajah Colambu. March 27, 1521 -- Left Homonhon March 28, 1521 -- Reached Masao (mazaua?), Magellan and Rajah Colambu made a blood compact as a sign of friendship. March 31, 1521 -- Fr. Pedro de Valderrama offered a mass, installed a cross signifying the conquest of the land. April 7, 1521 -- sailed to Cebu and met rajah Humabon and did a blood compact with him April 14, 1521 -- mass in Cebu and another cross erected and baptism Humabon (Fernando) and his wife (Juana) and of the 800 natives, Santo Niño was given to Juana.\ \ Lapu-lapu refused the Spaniards.\ Zula want to defeat Lapu-lapu and sought help from Magellan who agreed.\ Magellan refused the help of Humabon April 27, 1521 -- Battle of Mactan, 11 men on the ships and 49 was on the shore with Magellan, Lapu-lapu overwhelmed and won with his 1,050 mactan warriors. \- Magellan got hit by a poison arrow on his leg which made him order a retreat, bamboo lance hit his arms, javelin struck his back. Unknown Exact Dates (Still Chronological) \- Humabon convinced Enrique who is a slave of Magellan tortured by Duarte Barbosa to kill the remaining Spaniards \- Invited the survivors (26 arrived) to dinner then killed treacherously, \- 24 were killed including Duarte Barbossa, Juan Serrano, Pedro de Valderrama \- Survivors left Cebu and returned to Spain, on their way southwards they reached Palawan, Brunei, Mindanao, Moluccas. \- Decided that Trinidad and Victoria to take different routes \- Trinidad is commanded by Gomez de Espirera, cross the Pacific to reach Mexico, captured by the Portugueses in Moluccas \- Victoria is commanded by Sebastian de Elcano, cross the Indian Ocean and the African Coast to reach Spain. September 6,1522 - Victoria returned to Spain (returned after 2 years, 11 months and 16 days) 1564 -- Arrival of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi 1565 -- Cebu Occupation Pigafetta\ - lived between 1491 and 1531\ - his name was nowhere to be found in Casa de Contratacion\ - studied astronomy, geography, and cartography
