Monroes. 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 9 Meaning of Research “Research is an honest, exhaustive, intelligent searching for facts and their meanings or implications with reference to a given problem. The product or findings of a given piece of research should be an authentic, verifiable contribution to knowledge in the field studied.” -- P.M. Cook. 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 10 Meaning of Research “Research is considered to be the more formal, systematic intensive process of carrying on the scientific method of analysis. It involves a more systematic structure of investigation, usually resulting in some sort of formal record of procedures and a report of results or conclusion.” -- John W. Best. 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 11 Meaning of Research “Defining and redefining problems, formulating hypothesis or suggested solutions; collecting, organizing and evaluating data; making deductions and reaching conclusions; and at last, carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they fit the formulating hypothesis. ” -- Clifford Woody. 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 12 Term Research 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 13 Meaning of Research ❖ Research means A systematic investigation or activity to gain new knowledge of the already existing facts. Or A process of which a person observes the phenomena again and again and collects the data and on the basis of data he draws some conclusions. 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 14 Purpose of Research ❖ The purpose of research is to Discover answers to questions through the application of scientific procedures. Find out the truth which is hidden, and which has not been discovered as yet. Purpose 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 15 Objectives of Research ❑ Research objectives as falling into several following broad groupings: 1. To gain familiarity with a phenomenon or to achieve new insights into it (exploratory or formulative research studies); 2. To portray accurately the characteristics of a particular individual, situation or a group (descriptive research studies); 3. To determine the frequency with which something occurs or with which it is associated with something else (diagnostic research studies); 4. To test a hypothesis of a causal relationship between variables (hypothesis- testing research studies); 27-12-2024 Research Methodology (22ADRM57) - Debarshi Mazumder – AI&DS - NMIT, Bengaluru 16 THANK YOU CONTACT Visit us at Debarshi Mazumder www.nmit.ac.in Assistant Professor Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangaluru youtube logo - Peskotomuhkati Nation at Skutik Connection, facebook, fb, logo, media, social, soscialmedia icon Less than 40% of newspapers use Instagram in their social media...
