Room status, door sign and type of guests ROOM STATUS Codes help a housekeeping attendant determine which room needs to be cleaned first and which requires immediate preparation. These codes will also help the housekeeping attendant to easily communicate the status of the room to other employees. ROOM TYPES SINGLE OR STANDARD ROOM Contains one bed and sold to one guest. DOUBLE OR TWIN ROOM Has two single beds that are good for 2. TWIN DOUBLE OR DOUBLE- Contains 2 double or queen-sized bed that may DOUBLE ROOM be occupied by 2 or more guests. TRIPLE ROOM Can accommodate by 3 guests either by using 1 double bed and 1 rollaway bed or 2 double beds and 1 rollaway bed. QUADRUPLE ROOMS Contains 2 double beds or 4 single beds and may be sold to 4 guests ROOM STATUS Abbreviation Room Status Meaning OCC Occupied A guest is currently staying in the room. OR Occupied and ready The room has been cleaned and currently occupied by a guest. OD Occupied and dirty The occupied room needs to be cleaned VC Vacant and clean The rooms is cleaned, inspected, and ready for occupancy. VD Vacant and dirty The guest has checked out, but the room has not yet been cleaned. ROOM STATUS Abbreviation Room Status Meaning R Ready The room is ready and available for occupancy. C/I Check-in The guest has registered the room. C/O Checkout The guest has settled his/her account, returned the room keys and left the hotel. DNCO Did not check out The guest has settled his/her account but has left without informing the front office. Skipper The guest has left the hotel without settling his/her account. ROOM STATUS Abbreviation Room Status Meaning S/O Stayover The guest is not scheduled to checkout on that day. D/O Due out The room is expected to be vacant within the day. DL Double lock The room has been locked so that the guest cannot reenter until he/she is cleared by an hotel official. OOO Out of Order The room needs to be repaired immediately DND Do Not Disturb The guest occupying the room has requested not to be disturbed. DOOR SIGNS Signs that are posted on the door or its knob are used as communication symbols to indicate the specials instructions for each rooms. It may be out of the request of guests or a distinct order from the hotel establishment. The ff. Procedures must be followed in handling DND rooms. 1. Free independent travelers or foreign individual tourist (FIT) - This refers to guests who are traveling alone. 2. Joiner - This is a type of guest who stays with another guest in the same room. 3. Very Important Person (VIP)- This is comprised of prominent guests such as high-ranking officials, executives, among others who require special treatment. VIP guests must be given utmost priority treatment from their arrival, room service, checkout among others. Safety and Security of Guests What is?
