UTILITY SOFTWARE** -design to analyze profigure maintaining the computer. - e.g Anti virus **OPEN-ENDED TOOLS** - An open-ended tasks aims at complex problem-solving skills by confronting students with a realistic problem in a learning environment with a large amount of learner control and different tools. Open-ended tasks have more than one right answer, solution or outcome and can be completed in more than one way. They can take the form statements, questions, tasks, projects or teaching methods. Different students may use different types of thinking. Most importantly there are no predetermined correct outcomes. - There is shortage of strategies, techniques, and tools available to teachers who use formative instructional practice in classroom. There are numerous of open-ended tools in teaching and learning to elicit evidence of student learning. And these tools give teachers and students more opportunities to achieve their objectives. - Now that school is in the session, you have probably wondering about how you can connect in the classroom during lessons. The answer is we make use of open-ended tools in teaching and learning. An open-ended tool is an effective way to challenge students and teachers about extending their communication in response to the need of the students. **OPEN-ENDED TOOLS ADVANTAGES OF OPEN ENDED TOOLS/TASK** 1\. it can encourage the students to give more responses. 2\. It Encourage students to students interaction patterns. 3\. Elicit more complete and more complex responses. 4. To encourage students to question themselves and their teachers and classmates. 5\. To stimulate further thoughts and exploration. **OPEN ENDED TOOLS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING** **A. PODCAST**- is a digital audio file made available on the Internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device, typically available as a series, new instalments of which can be received by subscribers automatically. What is podcast and how does it work? - A podcast is an episodic series of spoken word digital audio files that a user can download to a personal device for easy listening. Streaming applications and podcasting services provide a convenient, integrated way to manage a personal consumption queue across many podcast sources and playback devices. - **A podcast** is a recording of audio discussion on a specific topic, like business or travel, that can be listened to. They are often found on iTunes and Spotify but are sometimes hosted on websites. This dynamic medium can be a perfect way to deliver your daily dose of inspiration wherever your audience might be. - **What is podcast example?** - A radio program distributed exclusively over the Internet and listened to on people's iPods. - **How do you use podcast?** - To subscribe to a podcast, tap Subscribe on the page. To play a podcast, tap an episode. To download an episode, tap the iCloud icon in the episode list. **3 REASONS WHY PODCAST IS POPULAR?** - It doesn't take much to get started - Perfect for storytelling - They are extremely convenient to consume 6. **SOCIAL AND NETWORKING SITES** 1. **SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES-** an online platform which people use to build social networks or social relationships with other people who share similar personal or career interests, activities, backgrounds or real life connections. 2. **SOCIAL REVIEW SITES-** is a website on which reviews can be posted about people, businesses, products, or services. 3. **IMAGE SHARING SITES-** used to store and share photos 4. **VIDEO HOSTING SITES-** a website that lets people upload and share their video clips with the public at large or to invited guests. 5. **COMMUNITY BLOGS-** are predominantly websites where many authors can post journal entries on a single space and where people can respond by commenting on posts to the community blog. 6. **DISCUSSION SITES-** an electronic message boards for asynchronous communication. 7. **SHARING ECONOMY NETWORKS-** an economic system in which assets or services are shared between private individuals, either for free or for free. **MOBILE TECHNOLOGY** - *It is a technology that goes where the user goes. It consists of portable two-way communications devices, computing devices and the networking technology that connects them. Currently, mobile technology is typified by internet-enabled devices like smartphones, tablets and watches. * **What is an example of mobile technology?** - Laptop - Tablets - Netbook computers - Smartphones **3 MAJOR EDUCATIONAL GAMES** Gaming (Kahoot, Socrative, Quizlet) *A video game that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a two-or three-dimensional video display device such as touchscreen, virtual reality headset or monitor/TV.* - **KAHOOT-** is a game -based learning platform that brings engagement fun. Students answer the questions with their smartphone, tablet or computer. The kahoot app is available for IOS (iPad and iPhone) and for Android devices as well as on desktop (PCs, laptops and Mac computers). Kahoot is free to download with in-app. - **SOCRATIVE-**a cloud-based student response system developed in 2010 by Boston-based graduate school students. It allows teachers to create a simple quizzes that students can take quickly on laptops-or, more often, via classroom tablet computers or their own smartphones. - **QUIZLET**- is the easiest way to study, practice and master what you are learning. Create your own flashcards or choose from millions created by other students. Quizlet is the best flashcards app to help you study and learn. **EDUCATIONAL SITES AND PORTALS** **1. EDMODO** - Teachers and learners can take advantage of this high-tech tool as it provides an environment similar to Facebook in which classes can connect online **2.GROCKIT** - In study sessions that take place on this fantastic social network, get the students linked to each other. 7. **SKYPE** - Is a great tool to keep with other educators, or even to attend online meetings. It can help teachers communicate with other classes. 8. **CAPZLES** - Makes it easy to collect media such as photos, documents, videos, blog posts in one place, making it perfect for teaching and learning, or projects online.. 9. **EDUCREATION** - Educreations is an awesome iPad online platform that lets teachers (or students) make videos that teach a specific topic. Great for learning or helping students show their expertise. 10. **PREZI** - It is used to construct presentations that will call the attention of your students and make use of this online resource which makes it easy with your lessons to do all sorts of cool things, including allowing teachers to collaborate. 11. **FUNBRAIN** - Helps the students learn about math and reading through fun games. They can find books, as well as other exciting tools. 12. **SCHOOLOGY** - Teachers can plan lessons through this web network, involve students, exchange content and interact with other educators. 13. **TED-ED** - **TECHNOLOGY, ENTERTAINMENT, DISIGN-** - It offers lessons to accompany many of these videos. Also, for elementary, middle and high school students, you will find animated videos and resources. 14. **SCHOLASTIC** - It has built a reputation for high-quality instructional books and resources and its website does not disappoint teachers and parents by providing lesson plans, engaging experiences and articles tailored to assist them.
