A Spreadsheet on the other hand is just one portion of your document. - Formulas in Excel works as your normal arithmetic operations but you need to place an equal sign (=) before performing any operation between two or more values. Functions on the other hand are specialized operations with assigned names of actions that use formulas and return a value. - As you open an Excel document, you will see the following parts: 1. Cell that contains the input values 2. Row Number 3. Column Letter 4. Name Box that shows the name of the selected cell which contains a column letter and a row number 5. Formula Bar for the computations 6. Ribbon which contains tools Quick Access Toolbar that shows the commonly used tools such as Undo, Redo, and Save Spreadsheet Tab where you can see the different sheets available on your workbook Status Bar where you can see the current status of your document and the view shortcuts - The Ribbon contains different Excel Tabs that contain the different tools depending on your needs. The different tabs you can check are File, Home, Insert, Draw, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, and Review. - Spreadsheets are important because they contain the information and data. You can add, delete, move, customize, protect, and edit these sheets through Spreadsheet Options. - Cells contain the values you have input. There are ways to adjust, select, add, or delete cells based on your needs. - Basic formatting allows you to change the look of your data tables. Lesson 2 Inserting Formulas and Function There are four types of operators for spreadsheets, namely - Arithmetic Operators, - Comparison Operators, - Text Concatenation Operator, and Reference Operators. - You need to use cell names in order to have a cell reference that you can use to create your formula. - Fill Handle can be used to easily copy and apply one formula to other cells, thus saving time. - A syntax must be followed for a function to work in a spreadsheet. The function syntax starts with an equal sign (=) followed by the function name and then the argument enclosed in parentheses. - The commonly used functions are SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, MIN, and MAX. - The Function Library can be found on the Formulas tab in the Ribbon. It contains different functions under different categories. Lesson 3 Conditional Functions - The conditional function in a spreadsheet is a built-in program that allows a user to make a logical test between a set of data. - AND, IF, OR, NOT statements are used to make simple logical comparisons. - COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, SUMIF, SUMIFS, and IFERROR are used to make more complex operations. - You can use nested functions depending on what you need for your data. Lesson 4 Inserting Graphs and Charts - Graphs are considered to be the most basic way to represent data visually, while charts are considered to be the most pleasing way. With graphs, you usually deal with different data parameters. With charts, you are usually comparing and contrasting parts of the same data against each other. - There are different kinds of graphs and charts for general use such as columns, line, pie, bar, and scatter plot. - There are also other kinds of graphs and charts for more case-specific use such as area charts, stock charts, surface charts, doughnut charts, and radar charts. The following are the basic steps for creating graphs or charts. - Step 1: Enter the data into a worksheet. - Step 2: Select a graph or chart kind. - Step 3: Create your graph or chart and adjust using Quick Layout. - Step 4: Add chart elements. - Step 5: Change the format. - Step 6: Move the chart. - UNIT 5 Lesson 1 Familiarizingwith the Presentation Software - Presentation software refers to a platform used in organizing concepts to present. - Desktop presentation software and web presentation software are the two classifications of presentation software. - There are many advantages and disadvantages for the use of various presentation software.
