REVIEWER INTENDED FOR THE THIRD QUARTER MUSIC There are 5 classifications of Indian musical instruments namely Ghan, Avannaddh, Sushir, Tat, and Vitat. Avannaddh are instruments that produce sound by vibrating stretched membrane such as Daf, Dhol, and Tabla. Vitat are described as bowed stringed instruments. Sushir include Shanhk, Shehnai, and Surpeti that are considered wind instruments or aerophones. Primarily by the method of sound production reflects the primary basis for categorizing Indian classical music. Pakistan is part of South Asia, but its western part is considered as an extension of Central Asia and known for its unique vocals. Ghazal is the devotional music of the Christi Order while Qawwali is characterized by its lyrical beauty, emotional depth, and focus on love, loss, longing, and beauty. This statement best describes a key difference in terms of performance of Ghazal and Qawwali. Hindustani music is originated in North India.
