Dogma AB prophylaxis recommended for: ◦Previous hex IE ◦Prosthetic cardiac valves ◦Congenital heart disease (CHD) ◦Cardia transplantation AB prophylaxis regimen ◦2g Amoxicillin 30-60 mins prior to procedure ◦500 mg Azithromycin 30-60 mins prior to procedure ‣ Or 2g Cephalexin ◦Can administer antibiotic up to 2 hrs post procedure ◦AB prophylaxis recommended for CV devices if: ‣ Dental procedures involves incision and drainage ‣ Residual leak remains following CHD repair/closure ◦AB not recommended for prosthetic joint implants.
