PPL is here to transform more lives by making self-directed care easier for all. All of us, working together, support program participants in multiple states who want to self-direct their or their loved one's services and support. We don’t do this work alone. To achieve our mission, we need to understand how our work impacts our coworkers, and how their work impacts ours, so that we build connections and a stronger framework to serve program participants. Hi, I’m Kira. I’ll be your guide throughout this course as we learn about PPL departments, how we work together, and how we can support each other to achieve PPL’s mission. Together, you, we, are PPL. We are lucky enough to work in the business of helping people. PPL helps individuals such as aging adults and persons with developmental disabilities to “self-direct” their own long-term home care. This means PPL supports our customers and their families in their choice to remain in their home and community. At PPL, we conduct ourselves in a way that reflects our culture. Our values help us accomplish our work. They serve as a decision-making tool in our daily interactions and help guide our behavior. It all begins with Care. You understand who our clients and customers are and are passionate in delivering what they need from us to make self-directed care easier for them. You help us serve in our communities. Team Play means you understand that our success is dependent on every team member, every team, every function successfully collaborating, constantly communicating and trusting one another to achieve our purpose. Speak Up to make the self-directed customer experience easier, take initiative, and challenge us when we are not listening and failing to deliver on our purpose. Look After the Pennies means you appreciate that we deal in public taxpayer funds and strive to identify inefficiencies and waste. Everything you do influences our own financial goals and commitments made. Finally, Own It. You are accountable. You are the reliable team-mate. You do the right thing. You choose honesty. You strive to keep on top of your functional expertise. You lead by example. You’re in charge of your career here. Each department at PPL has a unique purpose in achieving our mission. Are you curious about what they do? What better way to learn than to ask them? Let’s hear what they have to say. Strategy includes teams that analyze the market for new opportunities and work to win new contracts with state programs. Our strategists promote the growth of self-direction and other similar payment services. And our analysts provide business intelligence reports that helps both internal groups and our existing clients make important insights. Client Services includes multiple teams with one aim: make our clients successful! Most of our clients are state-level Medicaid agencies. We offer them innovative solutions through our Business Development, Marketing, and Organic Growth teams. We have Account Managers who ensure their needs are met by PPL. And we have Project Managers and others who help various teams at PPL to implement our contracts and other projects. Customer Experience serves as the front-line support to our participants in self-direction, along with their care providers. Our call center agents typically help with issues around enrollment, payroll, and general questions. We have many teams and each has expertise in specific state programs. We also have specialized teams who ensure the quality of our service offerings. Information & Assistance, Education, and Support, or IAES for short, provides extra support to many of our self-direction programs. Our Supports Brokers provide both onboarding and ongoing support to enable participants to successfully manage their self-direction benefits. For state programs that do not offer this full support, our Enrollment Specialists guide new enrollees through the onboarding process. Human Resources makes your employment at PPL as rewarding as possible. We handle standard tasks like recruitment, onboarding, and benefits. We also offer training and development opportunities from our PPL Learning team. Thanks for being a part of Public Partnerships! In addition to paying care workers, PPL also withholds their taxes. The Accounting and Tax Compliance department manages numerous tax regulations to ensure we are in compliance with federal and state laws. Funding for PPL comes from state programs and it's the role of Revenue Cycle Management to ensure that funding flows efficiently. We ensure billing is timely and meets contract requirements. Also, we monitor risks related to cash flow so our internal teams are well prepared. Payroll is at the core of PPL's services and it's the main function of our Financial Operations teams. We oversee everything from timesheet entries, invoices, payroll, and tax returns. Our aim is to take the burden off our self-direction participants. The Information Technology department enables all of PPL to perform core business tasks. Our many teams handle all technology needs. Internally, we provide laptops and other computing equipment. We also develop and manage software, like our payroll system and tools used externally by our participants and providers. At PPL Learning, our team of Learning Professionals are here to support your career growth and skills development, and make it both fun and effective. PPL Learning supports projects like MyAccount, state launches, and eLearning content creation. We also provide DISC Concierge Coaching, and manage your online learning opportunities, like LinkedIn Learning. We pride ourselves on creating a customized, engaging, and effective learning experience, including new hire onboarding, cross-training for state programs, Crucial Conversations workshops, Getting Things Done workshops, and our manager fundamentals program, called GRIT.
