HEALTH RELATED LAWS 1 Consumer Act of the Philippines (R.A 7394) - an Act that aims to protect people against hazards to health and safety, and deceptive and unfair sales acts and practices. It also covers the quality and safety of different health products, information, and services. Traditional and Alternative Medicines Act of 1997 (R.A.8423) - An Act creating the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC) to accelerate the development of traditional and alternative health care in the Philippines, providing a traditional and and alternative health care development fund and for other purposes. It also identifies medicinal plants in the country which are readily available. Philippine AIDS Prevention and Control Act of 1998 (R.A. 8504) - An Act promulgating policies and prescribing measures for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in the Philippines, instituting a nationwide HIV/AIDS program, establishing a comprehensive HIV/AIDS monitoring system, strengthening the Philippine national aids council, and for other purposes. ACQUIRED IMMUNO DEFICIENCY SYNDROME (AIDS) HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) PHILIPPINE NATIONAL AIDS COUNCIL (PNAC) - Central advisory, planning and policy-making body for the comprehensive and integrated HIV/AIDS prevention and control program in the Philippines. AIDSWATCH - comprehensive HIV/AIDS monitoring program established under the Department of Health to determine and monitor the magnitude and progression of HIV infection in the Philippines, and for the purpose of evaluating the adequacy and efficacy of the countermeasures being employed. Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A. 9165) - An Act that safeguards the integrity of its territory and the well-being of its citizenry particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of dangerous drugs on their physical and mental well-being, and to defend the same against acts or omissions detrimental to their development and preservation. PHILIPPINE DRUG ENFORCEMENT AGENCY (PDEA) - responsible for the efficient and effective law enforcement of all the provisions on any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor and essential chemical DANGEROUS DRUGS BOARD (DDB) - It is the policy making and strategy-formulating body in the planning and formulation of policies and programs on drug prevention and control. Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 (R.A. 9211) - An Act regulating the packaging, use, sale, distribution, and advertisements of tobacco products and for other purposes. It protects the populace from hazardous products and promotes the right to health and instill health consciousness among them.
