Force applied to tissue is greater to that which it can withstand Tissue fails Generates macroscopic damage Rapid onset of symptoms Results in pain and loss of function (Warden 2017) This content is protected and may not be shared, uploaded, or distributed Acute vs Chronic Injuries can be categorized as acute or chronic based on their duration and onset. Acute injuries typically occur suddenly, often due to a specific incident or trauma, and exhibit symptoms immediately or shortly after the injury. Examples of acute injuries include fractures, sprains, strains, or lacerations. Chronic injuries develop over time and are often associated with repetitive overuse or prolonged stress on a particular part of the body. These injuries usually have a gradual onset and persist for an extended period. Common examples of chronic injuries include tendon injuries, stress fractures, and certain types of muscle or joint pain.
