Some of the factors affecting a drugs action are: Age Size Gender Genetic inheritance Physical/emotional condition MEDICATIION MANAGEMENT: ABBREVIATIONS Very important to know medical abbreviations and how to use military time You will see abbreviations on drug labels, on charts, and in care plans Do not make up your own abbreviations (these are standardized) Following is an introduction to some of the abbreviations you need to memorize (related to medication management) INSTITUTE FOR SAFE MEDICATION PRACTICES HTTPS://WWW.ISMP.ORG/RECOMMENDATIONS/ERROR-PRONE- ABBREVIATIONS-LIST MEDICATIION MANAGEMENT: ABBREVIATIONS Abbreviation meaning PO by mouth TOP topically Sub Cut subcutaneous IM intramuscular IV intravenously NG nasogastric PR per rectum MEDICATIION MANAGEMENT: ABBREVIATIONS ABBREVIATION MEANING  Cap Capsule  Tab. Always keep your medicine in the original packaging so that you have proper dosage information on hand.
