English Civil War – Timeline Project In our world history class, it’s our goal to learn about the development of constitutional monarchy in England! Task: Create a timeline that includes the following events as well as descriptions of each that answer the mini-questions attached to them. Make sure to also answer the essential question. Research the English Civil War through this resource, class textbook (search TCI on Launchpad) and via online resources (NO AI) Essential Question How did a constitutional monarchy develop in England? Include support from the events in the project. (4-6 Sentences) (Answer wherever there is space on your project) EVENTS DESCRIPTIONS should answer these mini-questions Mini-Question 1485-1603 Q: What relationship did the Tudors have with Parliament? The Rule of the Tudor Dynasty A: The relationship between the Tudors and Parliament was not great as the Parliament had little power to do anything or challenge the monarch’s decision. Mini-Question 1603-1625 Q: How did Parliament and King James get along? A; King James believed he was chosen by God to rule over The Stuart Dynasty begins with King James I English’ lands with full authority and as such upset the Parliament as they were hoping the king to make changes in the shift of power. A: Commonwealth is a country without a monarch, ruled by the The English Commonwealth Begins & Ends Parliament. It fell apart due to Oliver Cromwell’s poor handling of the country like banning theater performances and Christmas celebrations, as a result people started wishing to have the monarch back. Mini-Question 1660-1685 Q: Why did Charles II dissolve parliament yet again? The Monarchy is Restored A: Charles II dissolved the Parliament again in order to gain full power again. Mini-Question 1688 Q: How did William of Orange and Mary become England’s Monarchs? The Glorious Revolution and Parliament’s A: Parliament invited William of Orange to come and take over Rise to Power the country. After taking over William and Mary signed the Bill of Rights which limited the monarch’s power and gave Parliament more power.
