Vector­ any quantity that has both magnitude(length) and amplitude(direction)(an angle made with the positive x axis). Ways to add/ subtract vectors: PARALLELOGRAM METHOD: TRIANGLE METHOD( TIP to TAIL): 1 Section 8.1.notebook November 17, 2019 Opposite Vectors­ same length. opposite direction Equal Vectors­ same length and same direction Parallel vectors­ same or opposite direction. Resultant vector­ the sum of 2 or more vectors. Each vector is made up of a vertical and horizontal component. 2 Section 8.1.notebook November 17, 2019 Scalar­ a physical quantity, such as speed, that is described by a single real number. (magnitude or size only) Difference with scalar and vector is that a vector has both magnitude and direction. zero(null) vector­ resultant when you add 2 opposite vectors. Creates equilibrium!!! 3
