**[HANDOUT ]** **PHILIPPINE ARMY ORGANIZATION** **Mandate** To develop, organize, train, equip, support and sustain Army forces for the conduct of prompt and sustained ground operation to accomplish the AFP mission **Functions** A. B. To prepare such units as may be necessary for the effective implementation of National Defense Plans and Programs and Armed Forces missions, including support to National development and disaster response; C. To develop tactics, techniques, and equipment of interest to the Army on field operations and to increase interoperability with other major services and international allies; D. To train, organize, equip and develop Army reserve units for the possible expansion of the peacetime Army component to meet any emergency; and, E. To perform such other functions as the higher authorities may direct. ![](media/image2.png) A. **Functional Commands** **ARMY SUPPORT COMMAND** **CAPABILITIES** - Receive, store, maintain and account while in storage, issue, and distribute materiel for PA units. - Recover/reclaim and dispose off hazardous and non-hazardous unserviceable ammunition and obsolete materiel. - Provide land transportation services to PA units and coordinate with other agencies for air, water and rail transportation. - Perform general support (GS) depot level maintenance for wheeled military vehicles, engineer vehicles, FA and armor assets, armaments, and other mission essential equipment. - Operate Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (LMNB) and other military grave sites and provide mortuary and interment services to AFP personnel and authorized non-military personnel. - Provide Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and CBRN support to PA units and other government agencies. - Conduct research and materiel development activities. - Provide quality assurance ammunition services. - Manage Army installation and provide base support services. - Monitor the implementation of all PA-wide procurement projects. - Conduct in-service training and related activities to enhance the skills of organic personnel on logistics and other service support functions. ![](media/image4.png) **TRAINING AND DOCTRINE COMMAND** **CAPABILITIES** - Conducts Army trainings and courses; - Develops and validates Army doctrines, manuals and TTPs; - Designs training and education programs and curricula; - Conducts Army leadership development studies and programs; - Manages the Army marksmanship training and development; - Conducts evaluation on land warfare-related trainings and courses; - Conducts marksmanship training and development studies; - Conducts researches and special studies; - Develops training exercises, training scenarios and future scenarios, and; - Conducts combat fitness and wellness studies and programs. **ARMY RESERVE COMMAND** **CAPABILITIES** - Develop, organize, train, equip, administer and maintain the ready reserve components of the Philippine Army. - Provide mobilizeable reserve forces as bases for the expansion of Army in case of war or national emergencies. - Conduct continuous mustering/accounting of reservists nationwide broken down by age category, province and city/municipality both officer and EP reservists. - Organize and administer the standby reserve units. - Conduct selective annual formal and informal assembly of Ready Reserve Units. - Conduct training to basic and advance ROTC, POTC, BCMT, AADT and other specialized training. - Conduct processing of applicants for BCMT, POTC, candidate soldier, commission and promotion of reservists. - Organize, train and administer PAARUs. - Assist retirees and veterans. - Assist government agencies in the conduct of the annual registration of military registrants. - Assist in emergency, relief and rescue operations during disaster and calamities. - Assist in socio-economic activities. B. **Ground Operating Units** ![](media/image6.png) **INFANTRY DIVISION** **CAPABILITIES** - Conduct independent offensive and defensive operations. - Conduct sustained combat operations against similarly or less equipped land forces independently or as part of a larger force. - Conduct operations in any local weather and terrain and in any visibility condition. - Participate in air assault and amphibious operations. - Operate in conjunction with heavy forces. - Conduct ISO, CMO, and limited DRO. - Provide organizational maintenance of organic equipment. - Provide unit-level health service support. - Can lift one infantry battalion at any one time. **MECHANIZED INFANTRY DIVISION** **CAPABILITIES** - Conduct sustained combat operations against similarly or less equipped land forces independently or as part of a larger force. - Conduct operations requiring a high degree of firepower, mobility, armor protection and shock effect. - Seize and secure land areas and key terrain. - Disperse over great distances and concentrate rapidly from widely separated areas. - Accomplish rapid movement and deep penetrations. - Exploit success and pursue a defeated enemy. - Conduct independent offensive, defensive and retrograde operations. - Conduct security operations for a larger force support. - i\. Act as a covering force in offensive, defensive and retrograde operations. - j\. Participate in amphibious operations. - k\. Provide aerial reconnaissance, limited air movement of personnel and supplies, evacuation of casualties and damaged equipment, and search and rescue operations. - l\. Conduct ground reconnaissance and surveillance. - m.Provide combat support and combat service support to organic and attached units. - n\. Conduct ISO. - o\. Conduct limited DRO. - p\. Provide depot level maintenance of organic equipment. - q\.
