Ballet – theatrical art form using dancing, music and scenery. -demanding grace and precision 2. Burlesque – intended to cause laughter; “joke” or “mockery” 3. Ballroom – partnership dance; has 2 kinds -Latin American Dance – Jive, Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba & Paso Doble -Modern Standard Dance – intriguing; ex: waltz, foxtrot, Viennese waltz, tango, quickstep 4. Douglas Nierras – most prominent in Jazz; famous for his Metanoia CONTEMPORARY DANCE STYLES A) Disco Dancing – popularized during the 1970’s - associated with John Travolta’s dance in the movie Saturday Night Fever. B) Hip Hop – originated in America; street dance style - includes: breaking/b-boying, locking, popping, wacking TOP 10 STYLES THAT WERE A HIT IN THE PHILIPPINES 1.
