INTRODUCTION q Anatomy: study of body structures § Gross anatomy: study of large body structures visible to the eye. Eg. Heart, lungs § Microscopic anatomy: study of structures too small to be seen by the eye and instead is viewed using a microscope. q Physiology: study of body functions and relates to the operation of specific organ systems. ü Anatomy & Physiology are intertwined. q Structure reflects function. The structure of an organ or cell will determine its function.
