AEROBICS AND ANAEROBICS AEROBIC EXERCISE (ALSO KNOWN AS CARDIO) is physical exercise of low to high intensity that depends primarily on the aerobic energy-generating process. Aerobic literally means "relating to, involving, or requiring free oxygen", and refers to the use of oxygen to adequately meet energy demands during exercise via aerobic metabolism. BENEFITS OF AEROBIC EXERCISE 1. Exercise increases your stamina and endurance. This ought to excite you. If you find yourself exhausted at the end of the day—too tired to even enjoy your family —you need to make regular exercise a part of your life. Once it becomes a habit, you won’t want to give it up. You’ll feel too good! 2. Exercise reduces stress. Exercise activates your endorphins, causing a natural high and a sense of well- being. 3. Exercise reduces your risk for heart disease and stroke. 4. Exercise strengthens your immune system. It actually increases your resistance to stress and illness. 5. Exercise strengthens your bones and joints. 6. Exercise decreases your appetite. You won’t be as hungry because exercise acts as a natural appetite suppressant. 7. Exercise will increase the number of calories you burn. This increase will accelerate your weight loss and encourage weight control. 8. Exercise will strengthen your heart and lungs so that they will work more efficiently. Exercise literally strengthens your heart muscle, and a stronger heart will last longer. 9. Exercise decreases a woman’s risk for breast cancer. Studies have shown that women who engage in exercise at least three times a week have a lessened chance of developing breast cancer. 10. Exercise decreases your blood pressure and blood ENJOY WITH BENEFITS ANAEROBIC EXERCISE targets your individual muscles. Because you’re not jumping around and moving your entire body, this type of exercise doesn’t require oxygen, and only burns carbohydrates. Anaerobic exercise builds muscle through short bursts of strenuous activity like weightlifting or performing push-ups at high levels of intensity. This type of exercise builds your skeletal muscle, increasing your overall levels of power and strength through weight and resistance exercises using gravity and your own body weight or machines. BENEFITS OF ANAEROBIC EXERCISE It can strengthen your bones, decreasing your risk of osteoporosis. It can also improve the strength of your tendons and ligaments while also improving joint function. It can reduce the risk of potential injuries and improve your cardiac function. It can elevate your levels of good cholesterol (HDL). ENJOY WITH BENEFITS DIFFERENCE OF THE TWO DISADVANTAGES OF AEROBIC EXERCISE Aerobic activities vary in intensity from light to vigorous, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many common light-intensity aerobic activities — such as cooking, doing laundry and shopping - are not actual exercises, although they still provide you with some aerobic benefit. Common moderate-intensity aerobic activities include exercises such as brisk walking and bicycle riding on level ground, as well as activities such as cutting your grass. Common vigorous or high-intensity activities include running, jogging, bicycling on uneven ground, swimming laps in a pool and participating in singles tennis. Medical Conditions Aerobic exercise can be disadvantageous or dangerous if you’ve displayed symptoms of chest discomfort or pain within the past 30 days, according to the American Heart Association. Exercises of this type may also be unsuitable if you experience pain or pressure in your mid- or left chest or in your left shoulder, arm or neck either during or immediately after an exercise session. Aerobic exercise may also prove disadvantageous if you easily experience extreme breathlessness; take medications for a heart condition, stroke or high blood pressure; have recently experienced a heart attack or MUST BE CAREFUL DISADVANTAGES OF ANAEROBIC EXERCISE is that energy stores are depleted quickly. Anaerobic metabolism also causes hydrogen ions to build up in the muscle tissues and lactic acid to accumulate in the blood, which causes the “burn” you feel in your muscles. Because anaerobic metabolism takes place in the absence of oxygen, anaerobic glycolysis is catabolic, or destructive to muscle cells. A fully trained and conditioned athlete may be able to sustain anaerobic exercise for about one hour. FATIGUE MUSCLES Thank You for Listening!
