HYPERTENSION Blood Pressure Classification: Category Systolic Diastolic (mmHg) (mmHg) Normal 40 kg/m² with comorbidities Uncontrolled diabetes or hypertension Obstructive sleep apnea (witnessed apneic episodes, daytime fatigue) 2. Physical Examination & Diagnostic Workup (2 min) Key Anthropometric & Clinical Assessments for Obesity: Measurement Normal Range Obesity Criteria BMI (kg/m²) 18.5–24.9 ≥25 (overweight), ≥30 (obese I), > 35 (Obese II), > 40 (Obese III) Waist Circumference ♂ 2 sec) Urine Output Normal Reduced Minimal/absent Confirmatory Laboratory Tests: Test Indications Stool Examination & Culture If dysentery (bloody diarrhea), persistent diarrhea (>14 days), or suspected cholera Serum Electrolytes If moderate to severe dehydration CBC & CRP If systemic infection is suspected Blood Glucose In lethargic or severely ill child 3. Management Plan Based on Dehydration Severity (4 min) Stepwise Management Approach: 1. Fluid Management Dehydration Rehydration Method Recommended Fluids Severity Mild (No Continue feeding & ORS ORS: 10 mL/kg per loose stool Dehydration) Moderate Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORT) – ORS: 75 mL/kg over 4 hours, frequent small sips Dehydration WHO ORS Severe Dehydration IV Rehydration (Hospitalization) Ringer's lactate or Normal saline: 20 mL/kg bolus, reassess How to Administer ORS Correctly? Give frequent small sips using a spoon If child vomits, wait 5-10 minutes and continue slowly Avoid sugary drinks (soda, juices), which worsen diarrhea 2. Nutritional Management Stage Dietary Recommendation During Diarrhea Continue breastfeeding, age-appropriate diet After Rehydration Resume normal diet, high-energy foods (rice, banana, yogurt) Avoid Sugary drinks, carbonated beverages, caffeine Zinc Supplementation: Infants
