# Vocabulary and Literary Resources 1. **Burlador** = man who deceives or lies, especially when seducing and deceiving women 2. **Gozar** = to enjoy, to have sexual relations with another person 3. **Dar/hacer el perro muerto** = not paying a prostitute after her services 4. **Apartes** = verses that are audible to the audience, but not to other characters 5. **Monólogo** = (or soliloquy) scene in which a character delivers a long speech to express feelings 6. **Clímax** = (or knot) scene of greatest tension or emotion within the play that complicates the plot 7. **Desenlace** = resolution of the plot, occurs after the climax 8. **Acotaciones** = instructions, usually in parentheses, indicating the performance (vocal level, set design, etc.) 9. **Ironía dramática** = circumstance within a play in which the audience knows something that the character does not 10. **Acción dramática** = actions that develop the plot, can be internal and external conflicts. 11. **Exposición** = information given about the characters through stage directions, dialogue, monologues 12. **"Tan largo me lo fiáis"** = phrase repeated by Don Juan who expresses his arrogant attitude towards his behavior, the phrase indicates that he has had much time to regret because he is still young. 13. **Leitmotiv** = repetition of a phrase, idea or word throughout the play 14. **Abrasar** = to burn or destroy by intense fire or heat
