**OFF-DUTY CONTACT OFFICER AND STANDBY STATUS** **POLICY:** It will be the policy of the Omaha Police Department (OPD) to comply with the Omaha Police Officers Association (OPOA) [[Collective Bargaining Agreement]](https://hr.cityofomaha.org/employee-groups/) (CBA) provisions for Off-Duty Contact Officer and Standby status pay. **DEFINITIONS:** [Off-Duty Contact Officer:] Per the OPOA CBA, "Off-Duty Contact Officer" means an officer of any rank who is designated by a command officer to be available for assignment outside their regular duty work hours. Such assignment may include but is not limited to providing assistance via telephone. [Standby Status:] Per the OPOA CBA, "Standby Status" means any officer who has been ordered to cease any activity that would prevent them from effectively performing their specialty job to which they are potentially being called out to duty for, i.e., SWAT team, traffic investigator, etc. **PROCEDURE:** I. **Off-Duty Contact Officer and Standby Status Assignment** A. Off-Duty Contact Officer pay assignments and regulations in each Bureau will be established by the Deputy Chief in command of the Bureau. B. All designations either as an Off-Duty Contact Officer or Standby status must be authorized by a supervisor of Lieutenant rank or above (or designee). II. **Off-Duty Contact Officer Payment Procedures** C. Employees who are designated as Off-Duty Contact Officers and/or Standby Status officers shall be noted as such in the Day-Off Book by supervisors. D. Timekeepers shall refer to the Day-Off Book and will enter 0.5 hours of "Off-Duty Contact Officer Pay" in the designated employees' timesheets for the applicable dates. **REFERENCES:** I. **Previous OPD Orders** A.
