# Landform Study Guide This document is a study guide on different landforms. **Landforms:** * **Canyon:** A large crack in the ground formed by a river or earthquakes. It looks like a long, narrow valley with steep sides. * **Lake:** A large body of water with land all around it. * **Peninsula:** A large area of land with water on three sides. * **Mountain:** Land that rises high above the land around it and is higher than a hill. * **Bay:** A body of water partially surrounded by land. * **Island:** Land with water all around it. * **Ocean:** A large body of salt water. * **Plain:** A large area of flat, treeless land. * **River:** A large stream of water that flows to a lake, ocean or stream. * **Valley:** Low land between mountains or hills. * **Delta:** Low watery land that is formed at the mouth of a river. * **Isthmus:** A thin strip of land that connects two large land areas. * **Desert:** Dry land with few plants and very little water. * **Cliff:** A steep rock face, especially at the edge of the sea. * **Hill:** High, rounded area of earth, lower than a mountain. * **Waterfall:** Water flowing over a cliff. * **Volcano:** A mountain with a crater through which lava flows. * **Plateau:** A large area of flat land that is higher than the land around it. **Note**: This document also includes instructions to review a landform booklet and do a review on google classroom.
